I used to think that losing weight meant being miserable:

I thought you had to do things like:

- Eat as little as possible or starve
- Give up all the foods you enjoyed
- Follow arbitrary food rules that really make no sense
- Be the girl at the party turning down every piece of food because “it has carbs”

And this is what kept me stuck in the cycle of losing the same 10-15lbs over and over again.

I kept telling myself I just needed more willpower — not realizing this wasn’t a willpower issue.

The plan was doomed to fail before I had even started.

Simply because it wasn’t rooted in sustainability.

I lost 88lbs in 7 1/2 months naturally but most importantly, I’ve been able to sustain it by doing the exact opposite of what you’ve been taught.

You’ve been trying to follow the whole “eat less” advice but it was never designed for you in the first place.

It took me years to figure out why I was caught in the same cycle.

When I started gaining weight, I was in a leadership role.

I felt I always needed to be on, always needed to be seen and I had to continue earning the spot I already had.

I’d get up in the morning.

Get dressed.

Head to work.

Work for hours.

Skip lunch or if I did grab something, it was just a bag of candy or chips from the store downstairs.

Then I was back working.

I wouldn’t sit down to eat a real meal until dinner.

And then, I’d overdo it.

Simply because I hadn’t had enough nourishment throughout the day.

But for years, I tried applying the “eat less” advice and kept wondering why it wasn’t working for me.

I already wasn’t eating a lot as is.

I was down to about 1-2 meals per day and the heaviest I’d ever been.

It was SO frustrating but finally, I made the decision to stop starving myself.

I gave myself permission to eat and this created an environment where my body felt SAFE to release the weight.
