This group was created to support Evanston businesses, and right now one of our businesses needs our help.
4 Suns Fresh Juice opened during the pandemic, the owner Gabi GahBee took a HUGE leap of faith and knew that her business was valuable and most importantly, would benefit the community she lives in. One of the best things about 4 Suns Fresh Juice, aside from the incredibly delicious juices and whole foods, is that the business is located in an area of Evanston that is under-served and overlooked by other businesses. Most want to open in downtown Evanston or on Central, and that's great, but, having a shop like 4 Suns in southwest Evanston is exactly what we need, and now we need to help keep this black/woman-owned business going.
Despite opening during the pandemic, the buzz about 4 Suns Fresh Juice spread quickly thru Evanston and as people realized they could get fresh, nourishing juices and absolutely delicious smoothies, the buzz grew and grew. Unfortunately, the painful truth is that the effects of Covid were still raging and wreaking havoc on most industries, and Gabi's wasn't excluded. Produce prices were thru the roof, access to packaging materials was inconsistent and sales were up and down to the point that it was virtually impossible for her to accurately forecast what the future would bring. Gabi made the incredibly difficult decision to temporarily close 4 Suns for the winter months, with the plan to reopen this spring. She started a GoFundMe and was able to raise $13K, for which she's so grateful, but, not enough to allow her to reopen on April 1, 2022. She is just a few weeks shy of that date and finds herself in the unenviable position of deciding to close for good (not an option in my book), or, try one last push to fundraise and have enough to open on April 17. I STRONGLY believe with the support of this community it can happen.
As we approach the spring and summer, having 4 Suns Fresh Juice open again and serving our community is so important, and so needed. Is there anything more refreshing on a warm day than fresh juice or a delicious smoothie? I can't think of anything. And, the shop is RIGHT across the street from Robert Crown, where kids and families spend tons of time in the warmer months for camps, baseball, library visits, skating, etc. You are right there and able to stop in for a refreshing and nutritious treat after a morning or afternoon of fun and learning.
We as a community can come together and help Gabi reopen this incredible shop. We need to help her raise $20,000 so she can reopen by April 17, Easter Sunday. Break it down and that's only 200 people donating $100, or 100 people donating $200..you can't tell me we can't do this. Of course we can do this! WE CAN DO THIS!
