Does your baby grunt all night?

What the heck is going on?

Is he awake or asleep?

Is he hungry?

Is he in pain?

Is he trying to p**p?

This is a neurologic phase that babies go through. It is part of what we call "active sleep" - a period of lighter sleep that babies have that tends to be filled with grunting in some babies (not all). Though we all have active sleep and we don't all grunt, babies seem to be going through some sort of developmental/neurologic phase that is heavy on the grunting. But if they look like they're asleep, they're asleep! 😴

This is a common (and valid!) concern for breastfeeding parents. Luckily, we set things up to monitor a baby's weight closely in the first couple weeks to ensure they are eating enough. 🤱🏽🤱🏿🤱🏼🧑🏽‍🍼🤱🏾🤱🤱🏻

If your baby isn't gaining weight, or your pediatrician isn't sure whether it's a breastfeeding problem at hand or some other reason why there's a weight gain problem, contact a Breastfeeding Medicine physician to get help right away!

This is our final video in the Imposter Syndrome series. Imposter Syndrom as a mom in general. It really never ends, unfortunately 😖

We are always comparing ourselves with those around us, and this is even worse when we have pictures of perfect families doing everything perfectly on Social Media. I guarantee you, behind the scenes, they are struggling just like you. We are human. We will make mistakes.

We will have good days and bad days but that does not make us any less worthy or wonderful or any less "exactly what our kids need." 👊🏽👊🏻👊🏿👊👊🏾👊🏼

I remember feeling like I was wrapped up like a pretzel trying to breastfeed in a hospital bed 😖 It makes a difficult skill even more difficult to learn!

If we only had people coming to our houses after delivery to help where you're REALLY going to be breastfeeding. Oh wait... We do have awesome people who do that! 👩🏻‍⚕️🤱🏽🩺
