Meet Ali Zhang, MD, L.Ac, DAOM, a dual-trained physician in both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine. With doctoral degrees in Medicine and Oriental Medicine, Dr. Zhang brings over two decades of experience to her integrative approach. Her specialties include pain management, mental and emotional regulation, immune system imbalance and dysfunction, women’s health concerns such as menstrual and hormonal imbalances and fertility support, as well as oncology support—helping patients navigate cancer-related conditions and the side effects of treatment with greater balance and resilience.
She is a board-certified provider, trained in both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and brings over 20 years of combined clinical, academic, and research experience to use in the treatment of a variety of conditions. Her dual training in the top two medical approaches includes a medical degree and PhD in Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology, from Tongji Medical University in China, as well as a doctoral degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from Pacific College in the United States.
While in China, she integrated Western and Chinese Medicine to treat gynecologic conditions, infertility, cancer-related health issues, and the side effects of standard treatments. Witnessing the toll of conventional care, she committed herself to reducing those complications and improving both quality of life and patient outcomes.
The pursuit of this goal led her to migrate to Chicago in 2012, where she holds a Faculty position and works as an Oncology Researcher at Northwestern University. Remaining true to her quest, she entered and completed programs at both the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine and the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, enabling her to apply her knowledge of Chinese Medicine in America. She will continue using this combined medical approach to the benefit of her patients.
When she is not working, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and dogs.
