This has been such a long road for Haley It started back in Nov 97 when Haley was born 15 weeks premature. Her first surgery was in August 1999 and it has been at least twice a year almost every year since. Her journey began after many unsuccessful attempts to remove her from the ventilator in the weeks after her very early and unexpected arrival. Her airway was very damaged from repeatedly reinse
rting the ET tube into her airway. Many ENT Doctors looked at her in the months before her first trip to Chicago, but no one was willing to take the risk of treating her because the damage and scarring to her airway was so severe. Her pulmonologist in Reno made many calls before she found a wonderful Dr at Childrens Hospital in Chicago that was willing to assess her and work to make her better. Haley has had 30+ surgeries since this all started. Broncoscopies, four reconstructions, Trach removal at four years old, stents inserted to keep the grafts from collapsing, lazer scar removals. The list goes on and on. The last three years have been the hardest on her by far. Just when we thought we were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...the tunnel caved in. A problem with severe scarring after a vocal chord revision left her unable to draw a decent breath and her trach had to be put in All the things that had been fixed in 2012 and early 2013 now have to be done again...but only after the reflux that is causing the severe scarring has been resolved. Her insurance only covers 50% of her procedure costs and none of her travel costs. Any help that you can find in your heart to give would be greatly appreciated. All funds will be used for Haleys travel to Chicago and to offset procedure costs. Donations can be made through PAYPAL to paintedraven1@aol.com. Thank-You from the bottom of my heart for taking an interest in Haleys journey. You're love and prayers are greatly needed and appreciaited.
