THE ONE QUESTION YOU AREN’T ASKING THAT COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
If you find yourself asking, “is this the right/wrong (thing/action/job/person) for me?” or “is this what it (life/love/work) is supposed to look like?” and you find yourself more indecisive, uncertain, & confused, you’re probably asking the wrong question.
I was in a yoga class on Sunday morning— and the instructor was guiding us through a flow.
For each pose, he’d offer slight modifications to the form of the posture to ADJUST the result, based on what each individual felt they needed.
In a forward fold, the straighter the legs, the more intense the hamstring stretch, while the more you bend the knees, the more space you create for the muscles in the low back to release.
Both ways of “doing” the posture/asana are correct. Neither are wrong.
AND. Depending on each person & what they want from the pose, you’d be able to look around the room and see the pose LOOKS different in each body.
So understanding the RESULT you desire from the posture, may help you determine adjustments to your form, to meet your desired result. And can remove any limitations or expectations what you *think* it should look like.
And, as most lessons we learn on the mat, it translates perfectly to life OFF of the mat.
Instead of asking what is the right or wrong thing OR wondering what your life should look like…
Ask yourself, “what do I want to experience?” “What is the desired result?”
Identify what you want to experience (how do you want to feel when you have the thing, what that provides for you, etc) And THEN you decide the move to make.
When you follow THAT… you’ll find freedom, self-trust, power, & clarity in your life.
No more falling victim to indecision, no more allowing external perceptions of right/wrong to cloud your judgment, and no more fear around your life not “looking” a certain way.
Because you KNOW what you want to experience and you are choosing to act in accordance with the desired result.
