Illinois Therapists:
House Bill 1085 for establishing reimbursement rates has passed both the House and Senate. Governor Pritzker now has 60 days to sign this into law. Please see details below on this bill and what they mean for the mental health profession moving forward.
HB1085: Establishing Reimbursement Rates for Insurance (Passed both House and Senate)
Concerns mental health and substance use disorder treatment coverage under private insurance policies. It mandates that insurers reimburse mental health services at specific rates, requires coverage of medically necessary services, and sets up new standards for provider credentialing and reimbursement to improve access to care. The bill is currently progressing through the Illinois state legislature.
If this bill is signed by Governor Pritzker, this means:
*Equal Payment with Other Healthcare to Increase Network Participation
*Establishes a commercial insurance reimbursement rate floor for behavioral health services to improve network adequacy & access.
*Utilization of Full Behavioral Health Workforce
*Allows MH/SU providers working toward licensure to practice under the supervision of another fully licensed provider, consistent with many major insurer practices.
*Required Coverage of MH/SU Services Received on the Same Day
*Required Coverage of 60-Minute Therapy
*Required Timely 60-Day Network Contracting Process for MHSU Providers.
