KEES Executive Search Client, SHALVA, a Chicago area Jewish nonprofit, seeks a Development Director. In this pivotal role, the leader will serve as a primary strategic force fueling the mission expansion. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director will serve as a high-impact partner, empowered with creative freedom to design and execute a comprehensive annual development plan that meets the demands of an organization constantly evolving to meet the needs of survivors and the community. This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role where the impact directly translates into the resources that sustain and scale vital services to survivors of intimate partner abuse.

Domestic abuse is never easy to discuss, but survivors can sometimes turn to their Rabbi for guidance and advice. It’s crucial that clergy understand the impact of their response when a survivor discloses to them.

Domestic abuse is a community issue, and Rabbis can create actionable change. Our advice for Rabbis is similar to community members who have had a survivor confide in them: Be supportive. Listen without being judgmental. Believe them. Know your limitations – let them know SHALVA can provide resources and next steps. 💜

If you aren’t sure what to call it, call SHALVA: 773-583-HOPE (4673). ☎️

Want to bring this conversation to clergy at your congregation? Send us an email: ce@shalvacares.org

According to the NSVRC (National Sexual Violence Resource Center), 81% of women and 43% of men reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime (in the U.S.).

This means that many people are navigating intimate partnerships while also dealing with the aftereffects of traumatic experiences.

Remember, everybody is different, so consider how these make sense for you, your partner, and your relationships.

Regardless of where you are in the healing process, SHALVA is here to support you in your journey. 💜
