WHY DO WE JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE?⁣

♍️ As a Virgo I know ALLLL ABOUT JUDGING others 😂⁣

Even if you don’t consider yourself to be judgmental, judging is an automatic process.⁣

WE JUDGE OTHERS and WE JUDGE OURSELVES. ⁣

Within a few seconds of meeting (or even just seeing) someone, you are asking yourself:⁣

1. Do I TRUST this person?⁣
2. Do I RESPECT this person?⁣

In our (seemingly) highly competitive world, we may tend to prioritize RESPECT. ⁣

We try to gain the respect of others through our achievements, appearances, and other outward displays of Respectability.⁣

However, our brains actually prioritize TRUST over Respect. ⁣

This means that it is foundational to build trust with someone, before you gain their respect.⁣

Also: Your accomplishments only matter to another person if they feel a sense of connection with you first. ⁣

LETS GO DEEPER WITH THIS…⁣

and consider the importance of SELF TRUST and SELF RESPECT. ⁣

In the same way, trusting yourself is foundational to respecting yourself.⁣

To build COMPETENCE in any skill, talent, or habit, you must be able to trust yourself.⁣

HOW DO WE BUILD TRUST?⁣

1. Keep your promises. If you say you’re going to do something, do it. ⁣

2. Celebrate your wins. See your successes (big and small) as proof of your competence.⁣

3. Talk to yourself kindly. Develop an inner dialogue of warmth and unwavering support.⁣

Happy Lunar New Year! ⁣

It can feel daunting to start the new calendar year during the coldest and darkest season. It feels much more natural to rest and replenish your reserves. ⁣

This is also what the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine teach us. Winter is the season of the Water element. This is a time to slow down almost to a stop. Before we begin again, it’s beneficial to develop a sense of gratitude and abundance to carry us into the next turning of the wheel. ⁣

The Lunar New Year marks a new beginning. Now that we’ve had January to rest, the Year of the Tiger arrives, carrying us into a new wave of energy. ⁣

This is a time to take bold chances. The tiger teaches us to watch closely, carefully, and choose our movements with purpose. ⁣

The tiger also reminds us to remain tender, while remaining tough and steadfast. ⁣

This is a time to hone your skills and develop mastery over your domain! ⁣

Claim your title as an expert in your craft. And then demonstrate your skill as an act of love towards the world. ⁣

We’re ready for you!⁣

HERE’S ONE MISTAKE I MADE THIS YEAR: I didn’t stop often enough to look back and really appreciate the results of my work.⁣

In this culture and time of great upheavals, it’s easy to be pulled into the rush. We may forget to take moments of gratitude and appreciation for where and how we utilize our precious energies.⁣

This year was truly a launching pad for me.⁣

👨🏽‍🎓I completed my Masters degree in Health and Human Performance while continuing to work independently as a holistic health and life coach.⁣

🌿I created new teaching programs that distill my lifelong research and embodied philosophies into actionable steps and intuitive processes - while also nurturing existing client relationships.⁣

🦚 I set aside generous time to dream, play, question, and create.⁣

💖I softened into deeper and deeper levels of understanding of myself, my relationship with others, and the world.⁣

All amidst a global pandemic. ⁣

➡️ The following slides show a small sample of client wins this year: breakthroughs, illuminations, lessons learned, transformations achieved, new levels unlocked 👑⁣

The funny thing is this selection is only from the LAST QUARTER of 2021! There’s so much more to celebrate if I really took the time to look back! ⁣

I’ve gotten so used to solving problems and creating solutions, going from one thing to the next, always looking towards the future, and sometimes missing out on really understanding what’s working so well now. ⁣

🔥 MOVING FORWARD: I am building more time in my practice to reflect, remember, and celebrate 🎉 ⁣

⬇️ SHARE BELOW: What’s one big mistake you made this year and what are you are you doing to change it in 2022? ⚡️⁣

💐 you are welcome to save and share the final slide as my sort of digital business card! 💐⁣

‘TIS THE SEASON FOR DEEP REFLECTION⁣

Many of the holidays we celebrate mark the turning of the seasons, prompting us to think differently, respond to the world, and take new actions.⁣

Christmas falls just after the Winter Solstice - the shortest day and the longest night of the year. The image of a new beginning, the promise of hope amidst the darkness, and the resourcefulness of the human mind is what this holiday symbolizes on a deeper level. ⁣

As we close out the tumultuous year of 2021, let’s take some time to reflect:⁣

What is the most important thing you learned about yourself this year? About your capabilities, resources, and resilience?⁣

What are you taking forward with you into the next phase of your evolution?⁣

(Feel free to use the blank prompts to respond in your stories!)⁣

HERE ARE MY ANSWERS (if you’re curious):⁣
This year, I learned to let go of other people’s metrics and pathways to success. ⁣
I learned to really listen to and TO TRUST MY INTUITION in matters of business, relationships, and life path. ⁣

I’m taking forward with me the resources of creativity, curiosity, and care.⁣

My mantra going into 2022 is:⁣
“I keep my word and follow through. I am guided towards my natural unfolding.”⁣

✨Tag me in your posts! I’d love to cheer you on!✨⁣

I AM GRATEFUL FOR: the inner guidance I hear so clearly telling me what to say, where to go, how long to wait, when to stop and to say no, and what YES feels like. ⁣

This voice has always been there, but at many times throughout my life, it was drowned out by other thoughts: voices of others, expectations, worries, anxieties about relationships, envy of others, and fears of the world.⁣

Learning to think more positively was definitely helpful in turning the volume down, but it never made these uncomfortable emotions go away no matter how hard I tried.⁣

When I decided to face my shadows with curiosity instead of avoidance, things really began to shift. ⁣

This holiday I’m proud to announce the launch of my new online offering: THE SHADOW INTEGRATION COURSE. ⁣

This is an at-your-pace video based program with deep powerful questions and journaling prompts, guided meditations to expand your awareness, and emotion inventory worksheets to use as your challenging thoughts and emotions float up to your consciousness again and again. ⁣

I’d like to invite you to take part in this journey within. ⁣

As the weather cools and we dive deeper into our own reserves, this is an opportune time to go deep while feeling supported and well-resourced. ⁣

The tools and mindset shifts I share in this course are the same that have helped me and many other clients in developing deep self-knowledge, sustainable self-love, and authentic self-expression. ⁣

I’m excited to hear how you evolve and what you’ll learn about yourself through the SHADOW INTEGRATION COURSE! ⁣

✨🙌🏽✨ As a holiday gift, I’m sharing this course at a special launch price of $55 (80% off!) until Giving Tuesday on 11/30. ✨🙏🏽✨⁣

✨💕PS. This work will be much more enjoyable with a friend or partner that you can grow with! Consider buying this program for yourself and a loved one so you can experience these shifts together! 💕✨⁣

As a newer coach, I was struggling to explain what exactly it is that I do. ⁣

It feels so natural, such a part of my being, to hold space for someone and explore their world, that I assumed this is how most people operate. ⁣

The more I’ve sharpened my coaching skills, the more I’ve realized the value of what I offer.⁣

Where I was doubting myself in the past, I now have more evidence of the positive changes a coaching relationship can bring. ⁣

We live in a world where everyone wants to be heard - myself included! Yet I’ve learned to balance this with my listening skills and curiosity when working with clients. ⁣

I consider it a sacred honor to be a part of someone’s unfoldment. It brings me so much joy to reflect this back and celebrate clients growth in their inner and outer worlds. ⁣

Are you ready and willing to receive support as you transform into your next evolution?⁣

It took me a long time to be comfortable with even saying the word God again. ⁣

Many of us q***r people often have to find our own way to spirituality. Earlier experiences with the church and organized religion often leave a sting. Many of us walk away. We search for a sense of meaning, belonging, and safety that those spaces once provided and in which many of our family subscribe.⁣

We work to unlearn toxic misinformation and misinterpretations of cosmic law. We create our own relationship with this force of life, inspiration, elevation. ⁣

We find it in spaces of gathering, we find it in community, we find it in intimacy with chosen family.⁣

We find it in ourselves.⁣

The body is a house of the spirit. The body is a vessel of the mind. The body is a generator of energy, momentum, and action.⁣

You are God, goddess, goddexx, creator of your own world, maker of choices, giver of life, and destroyer of doubt.⁣

When you ask yourself, why me? When you question if you’re good enough, when you succumb to guilt, shame, and self-blame - remember that you a perfection in a state of becoming. ⁣

Once you see yourself as God, you see God in others too. And sometimes God likes to f-k sh-t up. All modes of expression are available. Everyone gets to choose how they use this force. Everyone creates. Everyone destroys.⁣

What are you creating today?⁣
What are you destroying?⁣

What are you learning?⁣
What are you choosing?⁣

I choose life. I choose love. ⁣

I am.

One of my fav performances ever. This was pure joy to create!

I was invited by to perform for their Q***r Pride event in 2019. This was the first ever Q***r-centered Pride event that was open to the public and co-sponsored by the City of Chicago - and held at the historic and beautiful Ping Tom Park in Chinatown. I knew I had to make a grand entrance and give all the girls DRAMA!

I asked TRQPITECA co-founder : “Can I come in a boat?” “Yes, we can make that happen.”

The costume I’m wearing here is made from reflective mylar, which I had used previously for another performance for the first Veteran Artists Triennial a month prior.

After I arrived on land, I did a lip sync performance of “Moon River” sung in Spanish (from Pedro Almodóvar’s film La Mala Educación), and then sang an original song I wrote, “Eternal Return,” (produced by ), which is about reincarnation and reclaiming your power.

“REMEMBER THIS WORLD IS YOURS.”

It was raining that morning, and the event was in danger of being cancelled. I was concerned but had faith that Mother Nature would come through for the children.

While I was in the Uber on the way to the park, I meditated. I connected to the Sun, the Sky and the Clouds, and asked them to part. I told the spirits that this was a herstoric day, a convening of powerful q***r artists, musicians, performers, and community, bridging connections and sharing space with the local neighborhood and the city’s general population, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, stop raining so we can all enjoy the day!

Sure enough, by the time I arrived to the park, the rain stopped. And it stayed dry for the rest of the day. The sun even came out a few times as you see in this short clip!

This event was only two years ago, and yet in many ways feels like a different lifetime. So much has happened since then.

Yet this remains, for me, and I’m sure many others, a truly magical day.

As q***r people our existence is defined in reaction against systems of power, control, and subjugation. It seems as a Sisyphean task until we realize that there’s an even greater system outside of it: Nature.

Are you a multitasker? Something I’ve been working on during this Quarantine is moving away from multitasking, and (RE)learning how to focus on one thing at a time.

It’s definitely a challenge! I think we’re all aware that the internet and social media has changed our mental processing patterns so much, that fragmented thinking has become the norm. However, it comes at huge cost.
..

”Multitasking undermines your ability to focus and produce, fatiguing your brain in the process... When you’re bouncing between several tasks, you’re actually forcing your brain to keep refocusing with each rebound, reducing productivity by up to 40%.

Multitasking undermines productivity, efficiency, and quality of life and results in several half-baked projects that leave you overwhelmed and stressed out.

Prolonged multitasking rewires the brain, causing fractured thinking and lack of concentration.“

- Bryan E. Robinson, PhD
”Chained to the Desk: A Guidebook for Workaholics, Their Partners and Children, and the Clinicians Who Treat Them.”
..

I find that multitasking also takes us away from the present moment. In a way, it becomes an addictive behavior, always reaching for the next thing.

The Buddha may not have had the internet but they’d probably say the same thing about attention now as they did then - that these patterns of desire and wanting applies as much to the material realm as it does to the mental realm. We can be just as addicted to thought patterns as we are to physical items and substances.

What can we do about this? Simply, taking things one day at a time, one task at a time, one breath at a time.

I think it’s also important to recognize completion and begin to build a stronger muscle and preference for seeing things completed, rather than continuing to pile up more and more tasks on our to do lists.
..

What do you observe in your own habits? How would you like to move away from multitasking? What are some ways you’ve found that help you stay focused on one thing at a time?

The greatest journey begins within

MAHAL HEALING ARTS is a holistic wellness practice providing personalized healing experiences to LGBTQIA-spectrum artists, conscious leaders, and other gifted individuals in Chicago and beyond.

Artists, Creatives, and Q***r people often grow up to become abstract thinkers with uniquely embodied perspectives. We are natural visionaries, seeing not only what is there but also what could be. Often empathetic, we are usually the first to give to others, and the last to fill our own cup. While fiercely independent, we also align deeply with collective ideals. Oftentimes, this leads to overwhelm, anxiety, and conflicts within oneself and in familial, social, cultural, professional, and intimate relationships.

With an embodied intersectional, trauma-informed, feminist, anti-racist, and holistic lens, I work with individuals on their path towards healing. I offer a wide range of approaches including bodywork, coaching, mindfulness practices, and other natural therapeutics.

I am dedicated to helping LGBTQIA+ spectrum individuals and peers in creative industries to live a life of aligned purpose, passion, power, and freedom.
