“The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them.” – Ida B. Wells

Ida B. Wells reminds us that speaking truth is an act of courage — and an act of empowerment. She used her voice to shed light on injustice and create space for change, even when it wasn’t easy.

Her legacy encourages women everywhere to own their stories, advocate for themselves, and trust the power of their voice. Healing often begins when we tell the truth — to ourselves and to the world.

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate women who choose courage, clarity, and compassion. 💚

🌸⏰ Spring Forward, Reset Your Mind ⏰🌸

With Daylight Saving Time, spring break, and the start of a new season, it’s the perfect moment to pause and reset. Longer days remind us that growth and renewal are always possible.

🌿 Spring Cleaning for Your Mind & Life:
• Clear physical clutter in your space to help clear mental clutter.
• Adjust your sleep schedule as the clocks change—rest supports emotional balance.
• Take a break during spring break to recharge and step away from daily stress.
• Spend time outside and soak in the longer daylight hours.
• Reflect on what habits or stressors you want to leave behind this season.

Spring is a reminder that fresh starts are natural and necessary. Use this time to refocus, refresh your routines, and move into the new season with intention. 🌱

✨💐 Motivational Monday | Women’s History Month 💐✨

“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.” – Michelle Obama

This month, we’re highlighting influential women who have shaped history, culture, and community. We’re starting right here in Chicago with our very own Michelle Obama, whose leadership, advocacy, and commitment to education and wellness continue to inspire generations. 💛

As a woman-owned organization, Branch is proud to celebrate women who break barriers and create space for others to rise. Stay tuned this month as we honor more powerful women who have left their mark.

✨🌸 Women’s History Month 🌸✨

This month, we honor the strength, resilience, and leadership of women past and present — and we’re especially proud to celebrate that E.M. Branch & Associates, Inc. is a woman-owned organization. 💚

Founded and led by visionary women, Branch was created to address disparities in mental health care and to empower families and communities through counseling, education, and advocacy.

Women’s leadership matters. Representation matters. Safe spaces built by women, for families and communities, matter.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we also celebrate the women who continue to break barriers, uplift communities, and create lasting change — right here at Branch.

🖤✨ Fun Fact Friday | Black History Month ✨🖤

Did you know? 🧠

Dr. Francis Cecil Sumner was the first Black man to earn a PhD in psychology in 1920 — paving the way for generations to come. Known as the “Father of Black Psychology,” he trained and mentored countless Black psychologists who later shaped clinical practice, research, and therapeutic work.

His legacy reminds us that representation in mental health matters — and that the foundation of Black psychology was built on resilience, brilliance, and leadership. 💚

At Coffee, Hip Hop & Mental Health, our therapist Dwayne Johnson, LCSW shared powerful insight on the phrase “manning up” — and how it has shaped the emotional experiences of many men.

What does “manning up” really mean? For some, it has meant suppressing emotions, avoiding vulnerability, and carrying pain in silence. While resilience is important, emotional suppression can lead to increased stress, anxiety, depression, and difficulty forming healthy relationships.

Strength is not silence. Strength is self-awareness. Strength is asking for support when needed.

What are your thoughts on the phrase “manning up”? How has it influenced the way men process emotions?
