The time has come!

I’ll be taking an extended Instagram Sabbatical!

This is incredibly bittersweet. I have loved SO MANY aspects of being here on social and getting to know so many of you! It’s been a really special season of my life!

I’ve realized this year that social is not somewhere I want to spend my time right now. And being an entrepreneur is not supporting me. They have both taken a toll on my mental health. So this is an act of radical self love.

Sometimes self love looks different than you expect. Sometimes it comes along with grief. But overall - I know this is the right next step for me!

I can’t even imagine what recovering from major knee surgery would have looked like 10 years ago.

10 years ago so much of my self worth and my body’s value was placed on how it looked and performed.

Recovery from surgery and seeing my body change and being unable to exercise (or walk at all) and watching my quad and calf muscles atrophy would have been incredibly anxiety inducing.

When I first started doing work on my own body acceptance journey - “loving your body for what it can do” was a helpful mantra for me.

The deeper I’ve gotten into this work, the more I have learned that that was just a stepping stone for me - and more importantly it isn’t accessible to all bodies.

I’ve had countless clients who have struggled with chronic disease or disability and with advice like that - they would be left wondering (and they often did) “why is my body failing me? I feel like my body is broken”

So I encourage you today to go deeper. Instead of seeing your body for what it can do (which again - can be helpful for some - it’s not BAD it’s just not inclusive or the whole picture)….can you remind yourself that your body is doing the best it can? And that your body is always doing it’s best to protect you?

Your body is good.
Your body is doing the best it can.
Your body is always doing it’s best to protect you.
Your body is enough and worthy just for existing. And so are you 😘

The diet industry is a $78+ billion-dollar industry that profits from the idea that you are not good enough as you are and you must shrink or shape your body to be good enough, feel better, and be lovable and accepted.⁠

You are 100% worthy as you are right now.⁠

You cannot be more or less worthy than anyone else.⁠

Your purpose is to be YOU - that's it. That's your purpose.⁠

Let's be real here - Diet culture is LOUD.⁠

I've created such a nice, soft, cushy bubble of anti-diet living in my life that sometimes when I step outside of it I'm shocked, disappointed and feel lots of despair - and that's probably a lot of what you're feeling!⁠

Here are 7 things you can do to help quiet the diet culture noise!⁠

1. Curate your feed - unfollow, block, delete, mute, etc anyone that makes you feel less than.⁠
2. Quiet the ads - choose "stop showing me ads like this" when a diet culture ad shows up in your feed⁠
3. Acknowledge - acknowledge how challenging it is to live in a society so focused on body size.⁠
4. Cultivate Community - Spend more time with people who align with your authentic values and don't perpetuate the diet culture narrative.⁠
5. Expand - Do you own individual work to see how you are MORE than a body!⁠
6. Process - Set aside time to process thoughts and feelings when you DO spend time with people or see messages that perpetuate diet culture⁠
7. Fill your cup - Make sure you are doing things that make you feel ALIVE!⁠

Friendly reminder - this is a process - do these in small steps that feel aligned with you - there's no set order here!⁠

Body Image work is a portal into deep healing.⁠

The women that I work with are purposeful (and so dang inspiring!).⁠

YOU have a deep desire to live your life FULLY and engage deeply with your whole life.⁠

The importance of this one, brief and precious life is not lost on you.⁠

You want to feel present, enjoy the moment and connect with yourself and those around you in a meaningful way.⁠

Sure on that first level of Body Image work you will:⁠
❤Feel more confident in your skin⁠
❤Open up lots of mental real estate cuz you aren't obsessing over your body⁠
❤Feel more comfortable and confident in your clothes⁠

I always felt like I was somehow missing out.⁠⁠
I *KNEW* part of it was the food.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I wasn’t allowing myself permission to eat the Doritos at BBQs, the yummy appetizers out at the restaurant, the apple cider donuts while apple picking….that was clear - I was missing out on the pleasure, the connection, the joy of food.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
But it felt deeper…⁠⁠
⁠⁠
It felt like I wasn’t fully myself. I didn’t feel like I was allowed to be.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I didn’t speak my mind when something felt off or unfair.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I didn’t ask for what I needed and felt like this was just “how it had to be”⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I saw clothes that I saw were so fun and beautiful but “I could never pull that off”⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I saw vulnerable, deep and connected relationships but that felt impossible for me.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
So ya - food was part of it. But it was just the tip of the iceberg. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Now I’m not discounting food freedom and intuitive eating here - it was TRULY a portal for me to the rest of my healing (which is still ongoing).⁠⁠
⁠⁠
But I just want to share because I have a feeling you have a similiar gut feeling…it’s bigger than food, it’s deeper than body image even.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
❤️You want to live your life with deep purpose.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
😮And somehow - how you feel about your body, and in your body - makes you feel stuck.⁠⁠

I always felt like I was somehow missing out.

I *KNEW* part of it was the food.

I wasn’t allowing myself permission to eat the Doritos at BBQs, the yummy appetizers out at the restaurant, the apple cider donuts while apple picking….that was clear - I was missing out on the pleasure, the connection, the joy of food.

But it felt deeper…

It felt like I wasn’t fully myself. I didn’t feel like I was allowed to be.

I didn’t speak my mind when something felt off or unfair.

I didn’t ask for what I needed and felt like this was just “how it had to be”

As an ambitious, heart-driven woman - this probably felt like a normal thing you needed to do to achieve your big goals and dreams.⁠⁠

But now...you are at that group workout class and you find yourself comparing your body to other bodies - thinking “she must have a perfect boyfriend…”⁠⁠
⁠⁠
You go back to work and you are noticing how some of your co-workers bodies haven’t changed...or gotten smaller...and you start to think to yourself “must be nice…she’s probably has it all figured out”⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Ready for this?⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Body comparison isn’t actually about your body.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Body comparison is about your values, your hopes...it’s about what’s important to you right now.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
So instead of letting body comparison throw you into a shame spiral for days…⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Ask yourself this next time you compare your body:⁠⁠
⁠⁠
“What is it that I believe they have, that I don’t?”⁠⁠
⁠⁠
And the answer will reveal to you something that is important to you.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
If you believe they have…⁠⁠
-the perfect boyfriend (you probably value authentic intimacy)⁠⁠
-lots of money (you probably value freedom and stability)⁠⁠
-a perfect life (You probably value alignment and authenticity)⁠⁠
-confidence (You probably value being unapologetically yourself)⁠⁠
⁠⁠
