Brrr… the temperatures are dropping!

Cold weather can take a toll on your horse’s muscles, often leading to stiffness, reduced flexibility, and discomfort. Just like us, horses benefit from a little extra support during the winter months to help them feel their best.

A few winter tips:
• Ensure proper warm-up and cool-down when riding
• Keep your horse moving daily to promote circulation and flexibility (while watching for icy footing)
• Maintain balanced nutrition and adequate hydration
• Incorporate regular massage to help relieve tension and improve comfort

Consistent muscle care throughout the winter helps keep your horse comfortable, performing well, and ready for a smooth transition into spring work.

Sometimes the best therapy isn’t found in the arena, it’s out on the trail. With fall here and the beautiful colors of the changing trees, get outside the area walls.

Long hacks can help loosen muscles, build strength, and refresh your horse’s mind. They’re a wonderful way to support both physical and mental wellness.

But remember, long hacks are not for every horse. Some may need a lighter pace, shorter duration, or different type of work to feel their best.

Like massage, every horse’s wellness plan should be tailored to their unique needs.

Listen to your horse, they’ll always tell you what works for them.

This weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a horse dissection with Trinity Equine Service. It was an eye-opening experience that deepened my understanding of equine anatomy and biomechanics. I’m excited to apply this knowledge to better serve my clients and their horses.

Also, I am thankful to be surrounded by other equine professionals to collaborate with.

The learning never stops and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
