I missed Kidney Day yesterday. But it's every day for me. Drink your green tea and water. No sodas. Don't take NSAIDS. Watch your salt intake. No fad diets. That's my advice. 1 in 7 adults have kidney disease. Many don't even know it. I didn't. Until I did!! That's all until next year ☺️

Mean rooster venting post. This one tries to get me while I am feeding him. Through the cage wire. He has broken the welded wire hitting it so hard. He's a beautiful bird, so he stays. But, I may have nightmares about what would happen if he escaped 😱😱

That is a 5 gallon bucket completely full of eggs. That we will NOT be hatching. Hard choices have to be made sometimes. This was a tough one. There is limited space in the incubators, brooders, and grow out pens. So only certain breeds are going in right now.

For about 8 months now, we have been giving the mealworm farm Prickly Pear cactus as a moisture/nutrient source. Along with oats, of course. It has been a huge success. Since it grows here, and we don't use pesticides or fertilizers, we know exactly what they are consuming.

If you don't hatch them, sell them, or eat them what do you do with them? We boil our extras and mix them into the chickens feed. Extra protein and all the calcium they need πŸ’šπŸ’™ No waste here.
