Happy Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
Life is so busy and so quickly passes by that we often lose track and before we know several months have passed. I apologize for not being a better ‘hostess’.
Speaking of time passing by so quickly… Y’ALL, can you believe today marks ONE YEAR since transplant??!! I know, right?! 🤯 It seems like yesterday, or at least last week. It’s so incredibly crazy and almost scary how fast time goes.
The last several months have been pretty uneventful, in the grand scheme of things. November and December, Cruz kept on the same track of doing labs every two weeks with no major issues. Mind you, 10/11 months post-transplant he should be at the point where he’s going every other month. However, in ‘normal’ Cruz ‘style’ he’s been everything but the ‘normal transplant patient’. He’s still teetering in that reject or not-to-reject see-saw.
In early January I had COVID so I had to be really careful around him. His employer actually had him stay home for five days, which was silly to me. He had zero symptoms and he is on a part of campus that he doesn’t interact with anyone and he’s outside 90% of the time. 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t question protocols. I just felt bad because he was forced to use his PTO for those days. Poor guy…he says, ‘why can’t I EVER use my PTO for something that I actually WANT to do’? 🥺
Luckily, my run with COVID was super mild and no one else in the house came down with it. Although, Cruz and Brandon did have it in September so maybe they were ‘safe’? Again, 🤷🏼♀️.
Cruz did have Doctors’ appointments this past Thursday. I took the day off and went with him, to get caught up, as he’s been doing it all on his own. First appointment was labs. No biggie.
Second appointment was with his Complex Care/PCP for his annual check-up. Again, nothing exciting. 3 vaccines and ‘how have you been feeling’ chit chat.
Last appointment of the day was with his Nephrologist. Remember, this is the same dr that Cruz has had since he was 18mos old! We really have a close bond with him so it’s never a ‘quick’ appointment! Since he had labs done earlier, by the time we got back to see him most of the results had come in.
Lab results were not bad but they weren’t great either. Two of his levels that Doc keeps a close eye on were pretty elevated. So, the plan of action this week… Doc stopped two meds and lowered the dose on another. Cruz will go back next Thursday and check labs again. If his levels don’t go down then a biopsy will be scheduled.
So, for this week we’re asking for all of your good ju-ju and positive vibes to be put out into the universe for him. I promise to update when we know the results. Someone may have to remind me though 😬.
If you’re in Florida this weekend, STAY WARM. We did not move here for these Arctic temps 🥶 ! Northerners, you CHOOSE to live in it so no sympathy😉.
Thank you ALL for your continued love and support. We are truly, TRULY blessed to have amazing people in our corner! Have a great weekend! Much love! 💚
