• For children: Try a “5-finger breath” — trace one finger slowly while taking five deep, calm breaths to return to the present.
• For teens: Make a quick distraction plan (a playlist, a short walk, or a trusted text buddy) to step away when feelings spike.
• For adults: Use a simple boundary script: “I appreciate the invite, and I need to step away for my well‑being,” then follow through.
