Malay culture is incredibly rich, especially when it comes to postpartum traditions. One beautiful practice is Mandi Bunga, which means “flower bath.” Traditions like this remind us how communities have long honored rest, recovery, and emotional well-being after birth. There’s something so comforting about rituals that surround new mothers with intention, beauty, and support during such a tender season of life.

We often think of sadaqah as something we give with our hands, but it’s also something we give with our words, our time, and our intentions. Kindness, compassion, and service are all forms of charity, accessible to every one of us, every day.

Have you heard of frankincense water before?

I’m sharing two ways I use frankincense, one burned with oud oil, and another using raw resin (sap) soaked in water.

Frankincense comes from the resin of the Boswellia tree, and it has been used for centuries in traditional practices. What’s interesting is that modern research has started looking into its active compounds, especially boswellic acids. Some clinical studies suggest potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and there’s ongoing research exploring its role in supporting joint health and overall wellness.

That said, it’s important to approach it mindfully. While there are promising studies, frankincense water isn’t a miracle cure and quality, preparation, and individual health conditions all matter.

For me, it’s part ritual, part wellness habit. I appreciate the grounding scent when burned, and the subtle earthy taste when soaked in water.

Have you tried frankincense water before?

With everything happening in the world right now, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The headlines are heavy. The conversations are intense. The details can be disturbing.

But mamas, we don’t have to consume everything just to stay “informed.” We don’t need to read every file, every report, every graphic detail to know that something is wrong. Some things are simply too much for our hearts and minds.

Protecting your peace is not ignorance.
Protecting your mental health is not weakness.
It’s wisdom.

If reading certain news leaves you anxious, unsettled, or emotionally drained, it’s okay to step back. Your nervous system matters. Your sleep matters. Your ability to show up for your family with clarity and calm matters.

Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:

“O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families…”
-(Qur’an 66:6)

Part of protecting ourselves is guarding what we allow into our hearts and minds. Not every piece of information is beneficial. Not every detail is meant to be carried by us.

Choose boundaries.
Choose peace.
Choose what nurtures your soul.

May Allah grant us sound hearts and protect our inner peace.

Our Story

I started this business in the summer of 2019 wanting to bring mothers the same love and care I had received after the birth of each of my children through my cultures traditions of postpartum wellness. I hope to bring moms a sense of safe space, love, healing the body mind and soul as well as bringing new mothers the care and attention they deserve.
