Three births in 48 hours- what a whirlwind! šŸ’• My heart is so full from supporting these incredible families and watching each mama find her strength in her own unique way.

This morning, I’m soaking up some slow cuddles with my little boy on the couch, feeling tired but so grateful. I wouldn’t trade this work or these moments for anything.

Whitney | Welcoming Baby Connor

Whitney and her husband, Jordan, were preparing for a calm, natural, unmedicated birth- that was the plan all along. But as birth often reminds us, plans sometimes have to shift. Toward the end of her pregnancy, Whitney started experiencing gestational hypertension. Her blood pressure was rising, and she was also dealing with headaches. For the safety of both her and baby, an induction became the best choice. It wasn’t part of her original plan, but Whitney handled the change with such grace and strength.

She got checked in for her induction around 6:45 a.m., already 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced—a huge win heading into an induction! The IV took a few tries, but once things were rolling, Whitney was navigating contractions like a pro.

By the time I arrived around 1 p.m., her contractions were getting stronger and closer together. I stayed by her side, helping her stay focused, suggesting positions, and cheering on each small victory. We decided to move her into the tub, and the warm water brought instant relief. Whitney relaxed, and breathed through each contraction, really leaning into her body’s strength.

After some time in the tub, she started feeling the urge to push, so we called her midwife in. Whitney transitioned to the bed so she could use the bed for support. At 3:14 p.m., after an incredible display of focus, calm, and strength, Whitney welcomed her sweet baby boy, Connor, into the world- completely unmedicated, even with an induction! The joy and relief in the room were palpable. Whitney stayed completely in tune with her body the entire time, and it was truly inspiring to witness.

Whitney’s birth didn’t start exactly how she had planned, but she embraced every moment with courage and joy. It was an absolute honor to support her through this amazing journey and to celebrate the arrival of baby Connor with her. šŸ’™

Every birth is unique, and so is every mama’s need for support. Some families want a doula to be hands on- helping with comfort measures, positioning, massage, or encouragement during each contraction. Others feel more comfortable having someone in the room to advocate for them, support their partner, or simply be a calm, steady presence.

And many fall somewhere in between- a little hands on, a little guidance, a lot of reassurance.

That’s the beautiful part about having a doula: my role is to meet you where you are and adapt to exactly what you need on that day. I’ll never assume one size fits all. We will work together to create a birth experience that feels safe, supported, and exactly what you want.

If you’re expecting and curious about how a doula could support your birth; whether hands on, advocacy focused, or a mix, I’d love to chat! My 2026 calendar is open, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you during one of life’s biggest moments

Morghan | Welcoming Baby Graham

Morghan’s water broke around 5:55 in the morning, and she decided right away to head to the hospital. With her first baby, things moved so quickly after her water broke that she didn’t want to risk waiting at home this time, especially since they live about an hour away. Contractions hadn’t really started yet, but she knew it was best to get on the road.

I was actually finishing up with another client who was pushing when Morghan called, so as soon as that baby arrived, I left Columbia and headed straight to Hannibal to be with her. We all expected things to move fast this time around, but this little guy had his own plan.

When I arrived a few hours later, contractions were still very mild. Morghan was doing great but feeling a little discouraged that things weren’t moving as quickly as she expected. A little while later, though, everything started to shift. By noon, contractions had definitely picked up, and she began needing to focus more through each one.

Morghan is incredibly strong and steady. She found what worked for her- standing, swaying, and spending time in the shower. She stayed really calm and grounded through it all. Around 3:26 that afternoon, she started feeling the urge to push. The nurse checked her and sure enough- the baby was right there! She immediately paged for the doctor and urged Morghan to not push. The doctor barely had time to get his scrubs on before her body completely took over.

At 3:37 p.m., her beautiful baby boy was born. It was one of those incredible moments where the body just knows exactly what to do.

The first part of labor asked for some patience, but once things shifted, they moved fast. Through every moment, Morghan stayed steady, strong, and completely in tune with her body. Watching her bring her baby boy into the world was nothing short of amazing.

You’ve probably seen or heard this play out before…

ā€œLet’s get things moving with Pitocin!ā€
→ Contractions get stronger and closer together
→ Baby starts to show signs of distress
→ Cue the emergency measures- oxygen, repositioning, maybe even a C-section

It’s the classic cycle:
Create the problem → then rush to fix the problem they created

Meanwhile, your body is quietly saying,
ā€œI was doing just fine before all the intervention.ā€

We’re told to trust the process,
but then that trust disappears the moment our body doesn’t fit the timeline on the monitor.

Here’s the truth:
You’re not broken.
Your labor isn’t failing.
And your baby isn’t ā€œin troubleā€ because your body or baby didn’t know what to do
they’re often reacting to a system that didn’t give you space to unfold naturally.

And just to be clear; this isn’t a dig at Pitocin or anyone who’s used it.
There are times when Pitocin or other interventions can be helpful and used appropriately. But far too often, they’re used out of impatience, protocol, or habit rather than true necessity.

There’s so much power in slowing down, in patience, and in honoring the rhythm your body was designed for.

The system might need fixing.
But you? You were never the problem.

Want to help your body work with you during labor and birth?
Let’s talk about one of the biggest keys to that.. oxytocin. ✨

Oxytocin is your body’s ā€œlove hormone.ā€ It helps:

🌿 Labor start naturally
🌿 Contractions progress smoothly
🌿 Reduce pain and tension
🌿 Create a calm, safe birth environment
🌿 Support bonding with your baby
🌿 Aid in recovery and milk production

Pretty amazing, right? But here’s the thing; your body doesn’t just need oxytocin during labor. It needs it throughout pregnancy to help you prepare for a smoother, more connected birth experience.

That’s where your prenatal visits with me come in.

During our time together, we talk about so much more than just a birth plan. We prepare your mind and body for what’s ahead- learning how to support your natural hormones, manage sensations, and create an environment where you feel calm, confident, and safe.

We go over:
🌿 Ways to boost oxytocin naturally during labor
🌿 Comfort measures and hands-on techniques
🌿 How your partner or support person can help
🌿 Understanding your body’s cues
🌿 Setting up your birth space for calm and comfort
🌿 Advocacy and communication with your care team

Birth preparation isn’t just about checking boxes, it’s about building confidence and connection before the big day even arrives.

If you’re pregnant and want to walk into birth feeling calm, prepared, and supported this is your sign to start now. Your body already knows how to do this… I just help you tap into it. šŸ¤

This post hit me right in the heart. 🩶
Being a doula is one of the most sacred, exhausting, beautiful, and humbling callings I’ve ever known. The late nights, missed plans, sore muscles, and emotional moments; they’re all part of walking alongside families through such powerful and life changing seasons.

This post says everything I feel but don’t have the words for. Being a doula means holding space for so much joy, pain, exhaustion, beauty, and transformation. It’s hard work, but it’s HOLY work, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. šŸ¤

To all my fellow doulas out there- we are seen, and the work we do matters more than we know. šŸ’›

Dear doula,

We see you...

on those late night drives back home when your heart is pounding and you are so filled to the brim with adrenaline due to proxy-oxytocin you feel like you’ll burst.

Dear doula,

We see you...

when your plans are changed last minute again because babies don’t have calendars, and you miss yet another family dinner because you love to selflessly serve pregnant mamas.

Dear doula,

We see you...

as you wake up in the morning completely sore from 18-hours straight of hip squeezes and counter pressure because you would do anything to make her laboring easier.

Dear doula,

We see you...

while you cry in the shower trying to process when trauma and heartbreak happen and you had a front row seat but couldn’t do anything to stop it.

Dear doula,

We see you...

and we applaud you. Your servant’s heart and selfless devotion do not go unnoticed, and as long as we are around we will be giving you the recognition you deserve!

So, thank you.

You are making a difference, and you are seen!

It’s been a little while since I’ve shared here, but not because I’ve forgotten about this space, but just because life as a mom and doula has been so beautifully full. ✨

This year has been packed with births, and I’ve found myself so immersed in supporting families that I haven’t slowed down to post. But the truth is, that’s where my heart has been; In the birth room, walking with moms through some of the most sacred and transformative hours of their lives.

Being a doula is more than showing up on birth day. It’s holding space during pregnancy when anxieties creep in, helping families prepare and navigate choices in the hospital, offering hands on comfort and reassurance when things feel overwhelming, and capturing the little moments that might otherwise be forgotten. It’s reminding moms of their strength, and making sure they never feel alone in the process.

I absolutely love what I do, and I am endlessly grateful for the families who invite me into such an intimate season. Every birth teaches me something new, and every family reminds me why this work matters so deeply.

Because of all this goodness, I am fully booked for the remainder of 2025. šŸ’• However, if you’re expecting in 2026, it’s not too early to consider adding a doula to your support team. Having a doula means having someone in your corner from the very start, someone who knows birth, knows the system, and is there to make sure you feel supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way.

Thank you, truly, to every family who has entrusted me with your story. I carry each of you in my heart. šŸ’œ
