E. COLI OUTBREAK: At least 29 people are sick from E. coli in Michigan and Ohio, with more illnesses under investigation. CDC and state officials are working to quickly identify a food linked to illness.

Call your healthcare provider right away if you have severe E. coli symptoms, like diarrhea that lasts for more than 3 days or diarrhea with a fever higher than 102˚F, bloody diarrhea, or so much vomiting that you can’t keep liquids down and are not peeing much.

Position Overview:
Blood collection – collecting patient blood samples following medical safety procedures.

Specimen storage and transport – have a solid grasp of processes and procedures for safely transporting and storing specimens.

Outstanding manner – phlebotomists should possess excellent manners and be able to successfully interact with a wide variety of patients, making them comfortable during the collection process.

Driving skills – phlebotomists should possess strong driving skills, valid licenses, and insurance.

Communication skills – excellent verbal communication skills to interact with clients, patients, and laboratory technicians.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge of safety practices:
• Excellent customer and patient service skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrate and incorporate into daily work knowledge of processes and tools to measure and improve quality
• Actively participate in, support, and drive compliance with all state, federal and regulatory guidelines, standards, and laws
• Possess a collaborative approach to foster effective teamwork with all client operations colleagues

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy training program and certificate
