Newborn feeding tip 🤍

In the first few days, babies are very sleepy, but by day four, you’ll start seeing more feeding cues. Instead of timing every feed, follow your baby’s cues. and aim for about 10 feeds a day.

That little heel prick? It’s doing a lot more than you might think! Newborn screening now tests for about 70 metabolic and genetic conditions, helping us catch important issues early!

If we ever need to repeat the test, don’t panic. It’s more common than you’d think and often just due to a sample issue.

We highly recommend Vitamin K and erythromycin after birth.

Vitamin K helps prevent serious bleeding complications, and erythromycin helps protect your baby’s eyes from infection. These medications are safe, effective, and important.

If you’d like to enjoy uninterrupted “golden hour” first, just let your nursing staff know when you arrive. In most cases, these can be given after that first bonding hour!
