Actor Robert Carradine, best known for his work in “Revenge of the Nerds” died Monday, February 23rd, 2026; at the age of 71, following a two-decade long struggle with bipolar disorder.

He was born Robert Reed Carradine on March 24th, 1954, in Los Angeles, California to actress, Sonia Sorel and actor, John Carradine. A member of the storied Carradine acting family, including his brothers, actors David Carradine, Keith Carradine and Disney Imagineer, Christopher Carradine.

Carradine got his start in acting in 1971, in a guest starring role on "Bonanza" and then a role as Slim in the 1972, John Wayne Western "The Cowboys." Best known for his work in the 1984, “Revenge of the Nerds,” “The Long Riders” and Disney Channel’s, “Lizzie McGuire” from 2001-2004. He worked steadily in the industry, both in film and television for over 40 years.

Death can be difficult or uncomfortable to talk about. And even if we have a deep faith in eternal life or an afterlife, what happens after we die is ultimately uncertain and unknowable. So we wrap our discomfort and uncertainty in euphemisms, the most common of which is “passed away." But is saying “passed away” beneficial in helping us to cope with the pain of loss? Can saying “died” instead of “passed away” provide us with a clearer language - and therefore clearer path - toward grief-healing?

Grief Share Program at Gramer Funeral Home

Grief is difficult, but you don’t have to face it alone. Gramer Funeral Home is honored to host a Grief Share Program beginning Wednesday, February 25th, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 705 North Main Street, Clawson, MI 48017.

This program is held each month and is designed to help individuals manage the emotions and stresses of grief after the loss of a loved one. Each session includes a video featuring insights from counselors, pastors, and those who’ve experienced grief, followed by a group discussion to explore how the advice applies to your life. Whether you choose to speak or just listen, you will find comfort in being part of a supportive community.

Eric Dane, the American actor best known for his role in “Grey’s Anatomy” died Thursday, February 19th, 2026; at the age of 53 after battling ALS. Eric William Dane was born November 9th, 1972, in San Francisco, California.

Dane’s 35-year career in television and film included his breakout role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” as Dr. Mark Slone, “Dr. McSteamy” where he first appeared in early 2006 and went on to feature in 145 episodes. More recently, he starred in “The Last Ship,” “Euphoria,” “Brilliant Minds,” and “Countdown.”
