Take some time to stop and smell the roses—literally. National Sense of Smell Day on the last Saturday in April is for celebrating one of the five senses and appreciating the many scents our noses can pick up and enjoy.

The importance of the sense of smell, plays in every day of our lives. It also plays a role as an early warning system, triggers memories, and interacts with our other senses. Scent cells renew every 30-60 days and are the only sense nerve cells that can regenerate. Those scent cells allow us to recognize smells from childhood and trigger memories. It’s also the only sense directly connected to the brain where all those memories are stored.

This past Wednesday we celebrated Earth Day and today,National Arbor Day, celebrating the beauty and usefulness of trees. Trees are more than signals of the changing seasons. Trees provide vital protection for the Earth and a renewable resource. An ideal way to support the health of the earth is to plant more trees.

You could choose to have a memorial tree planted in memory of a lost loved one. Planting a memorial tree, you would be making a long-term commitment to the environment and rooting the memories of your lost loved one in our planet for countless years to come.
"He who plants a tree, Plants hope." ~Lucy Larcom

Celebrating 118 years of the U.S. Army Reserve is recognized on April 23rd.
The day commemorates its contributions to the Cold War, the World Wars, Vietnam, Korea, the Persian Gulf, and many other similar wars and crises around the globe. This more-than-a-century-old federal reserve force has played a very vital role in U.S. military history. There are army reserve units in all 50 U.S. states, 20 different time zones across the world, and five U.S. territories.

They answer the call that our forefathers made to defend our country at all costs. Anytime, anywhere.
Service. Legacy. Honor.
Thank you for your service.

April Showers Day on April 22nd revolves around the changing of the seasons. Rainstorms that occur in the Northern Hemisphere during April, are known as April showers. The April rain, prepares the ground for the beautiful blooms of May, “April showers bring May flowers.” The saying itself has deep roots in English literature and culture, dating back to at least the early 1600s. It was first noted in a poem and later became a common proverb.
