Today, we had the honor of celebrating one of our residents, Colonel Kennith Blan, with a veteran recognition ceremony provided by our partners at Empath Hospice.
The ceremony brought together veterans and pilots from our community, sharing stories, camaraderie, and respect for a life of extraordinary services. Special thanks to Charles, Melissa, and Karen from the Empath team for creating such a meaningful tribute.
Colonel Blan’s service spans three wars. He flew B-24s in WWII,
B-29s in Korea, and jets in Vietnam. Over a 32-year career in the U.S. Air Force, he was even offered the rank of General, which he respectfully turned down to retire and spend more time with his wife of 74 years who was also his high school sweetheart.
As he approaches his 101st birthday this June, we asked him what his secret to a long life is, his answer was simple: “It starts with good genes, and a good bowl of oatmeal for breakfast." LOL
We are proud to honor a life defined by courage, commitment, and enduring love. You will leave a legacy that continues to inspire generations to come.
