 People don’t want God‘s judgment. They feel judgment is not what a deity is for. They want Santa Claus theology because they cannot cope with the reality of evil or suffering. When we do that, God becomes an idol of our own making rather than the God of scripture.

Did Jesus say to the angels “Go. Catch him as he falls.”
The angels gathered in the barn & cried as they watched. They knew what he intended and were poised to catch him in the fall. As they gently lay his body on the cold hard concrete they sang praises to the Lord. In the strong arms of the angel they gathered him and carried him, heavenward to his Fathers. Did he look back for one more glimmer of hope in his flesh? Or did his spirit call him to hurt no more. Not giving up but ending the pain. So many victories in his short time on earth, but also the losses. Jesus pulled Lucas into him, pulled his head onto his chest, wrapped his arms around him. Jesus said “No more struggling, no more pain my child. I have your earthly father, and don’t worry about your mom, my spirit lives in her. I am with her always. Your brother is safe. I have commanded angels to guard his heart and soul.” Lucas was home at last. At peace. At rest.
