Purposeful Pediatrics, A House Call Medical Service

Purposeful Pediatrics, A House Call Medical Service Filling in the gap... bringing compassionate, quality and equitable healthcare to your doorstep!

I have been working in pediatrics for over 21 years and as a Nurse Practitioner for over 15 years. I have a wide range of experience culminating from a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery to after-hours urgent care to the Pediatric ED at Brenners' Children Hospital. In all these places, I learned that the one of the most important aspects of healthcare is servicing families with dignity and providing accessibility to quality care. In May 2023, I made a decision to follow my heart and walk in my true purpose of bringing accessibility to quality care to the community. I believe that healthcare should be available convenient to families regardless of transportation, work schedules, income or location. Purposeful Pediatrics, PLLC is here to serve children ages 6 months to 17 years of age. At this time, we will manage acute illnesses and provide also sports physicals at the convenience of your home.

🌟 Happy Nurse Practitioner Week! 🌟

As this week comes to an end, we want to take time to celebrate the heart and hustle of Nurse Practitioners , the ones who lead with skill, compassion, and purpose! 💉❤️

🩺 Did you know?
🧐There are 385,000+ NPs nationwide, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care every day.
📈Studies show NP-led care provides equal or better outcomes — and often higher patient satisfaction thanks to our time, listening, and connection.
📊Only about 2–3% of NPs are business owners — blazing trails in access and innovation (like we do at Purposeful Pediatrics!).
✊🏾Just 8% of NPs are Black, yet we lead in serving communities that need care most, proving representation matters.

To every NP bringing empathy, excellence, and equity into healthcare — we see you and celebrate you!

💬 Take a moment to thank a Nurse Practitioner in your life today.

Health Tip Tuesday:
Nosebleeds & the Heaters Are Here! 👃🏽🥶

As temperatures drop and heaters come on, the air gets drier — and so do your child’s nasal passages. That dryness can cause more frequent nosebleeds, especially in kids.

💡 Here are 3 simple ways to help prevent them:

1️⃣ Add moisture back to the air. Use a cool mist humidifier in your child’s bedroom at night.

2️⃣ Keep nasal passages hydrated. A little saline spray or gel once or twice a day can make a big difference!

3️⃣ Avoid nose picking or forceful blowing. Encourage gentle nose care and trim nails to prevent irritation.

🚨 When to see someone:
If your child’s nosebleeds are frequent (several times a week), heavy, or hard to stop after 15–20 minutes, it’s time to check in with a provider.

Small changes at home can make big differences for those tiny noses! 💙👩🏽‍⚕️

Motivation Monday 💡

“No one will ever love you exactly the way you want to be loved.” ❤️
That’s your job… and ultimately, that’s God’s job. 🙌🏽

As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s easy to reflect on relationships — family, friends, even ourselves — and feel a mix of gratitude and unmet expectations. But here’s the truth: people love from their level of understanding, not always from your level of need.

This week, give yourself (and others) grace. 💛
✨ Love yourself enough to fill your own cup.
✨ Let God handle the rest — He knows exactly what you need.
✨ Release the pressure for perfection in relationships, and make room for peace, presence, and purpose.

The more whole you become within, the more you’ll recognize the love already around you. 🕊️

💡 Motivation Monday 💡

“Are you ignoring the ways people show up for you because it’s not how you expected it?” 💭

We’ve entered November — the season of gratitude, love, and celebration. 🍂✨
But for many, these last two months of the year can feel more contentious than comforting, more stressful than joyful.

Here’s a gentle reminder: sometimes, love doesn’t look like what you imagined — but it’s still love. ❤️
🥺The friend who checks in with a meme instead of a call.
🧒🏽The child who shows care through laughter instead of words.
🥰The partner who handles the details so you can rest.

Don’t miss the heart because it didn’t come in the package you expected.

This week, slow down enough to notice how people are showing up for you — in big ways, small ways, quiet ways. Gratitude grows when we learn to see the intent behind the action. 🌱

💡 Motivation Monday 💡

Are you paying more attention to what you don’t like than what you do like? 🤔

In parenting, relationships, and even at work — it’s easy to get caught up in what frustrates us. The constant correction, the undone chores, the unmet expectations… But what we focus on grows.

🌱 Here’s how to shift it:
1️⃣ Redirect your attention — Start the day noticing one thing (or person) that’s going right.
2️⃣ Speak it out loud — Affirm what you appreciate. Gratitude changes energy.
3️⃣ Balance correction with connection — Growth happens best in environments where people feel seen and supported.

When you start focusing on what you do like, you’ll begin to see more of it — in your kids, your relationships, and even in yourself. 💛

✨ Call to Action: This week, challenge yourself to find 3 things each day that you’re thankful for in the people you spend the most time with… and TELL THEM!

Watch how it changes your perspective!

👩🏽‍⚕️ Motivation Monday

We all want better outcomes — in parenting, work, or relationships — but growth often comes dressed as feedback, redirection, or discomfort. Sometimes it’s not that life isn’t working… it’s that we aren’t listening. 👂🏽

When frustration rises, take a moment to pause before reacting. Ask yourself: What is this trying to teach me? Correction isn’t rejection — it’s preparation for what’s next.

🧐 This week, be intentional about correction & receive it with openness instead of offense. You might be closer to your “better” than you think!

💭 Motivation Monday 💭

Are you making inaccurate assessments because you haven’t corrected your own filter? 👀

Sometimes it’s not the situation that’s off — it’s our view of it.
Parenting, relationships, and even work can look cloudy when we’re carrying unhealed frustration, fatigue, or fear from old experiences.

✨ Your perspective shapes your response.
✨ Your response shapes your results.

Before you assume, react, or label something as “broken,” check your filter. Are you seeing clearly, or through the lens of what hurt you last?

➡️ Call to Action: Pause today.
Do a self-check.
What’s clouding your view — disappointment, comparison, burnout?

Reset your filter before you assess your people. You might realize the picture was clearer than you thought.

Health Tip Tuesday-

October is ADHD Awareness Month!

As the first quarter of school wraps up, some parents may notice concerns like trouble focusing, staying seated, or impulsivity. While these can resemble ADHD, remember — not every distraction or burst of energy means a diagnosis.

To be diagnosed with ADHD, a child must:
✅ Show symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that are more frequent or severe than in other children their age.
✅ Have symptoms present in two or more settings (for example, home and school).
✅ Have symptoms that interfere with daily functioning — academic, social, or emotional.
✅ Have symptoms that began before age 12.

If you suspect ADHD:
1️⃣ Start a conversation with your child’s teacher to gather observations.
2️⃣ Schedule an evaluation with your child’s pediatric provider. This may include standardized questionnaires, behavior rating scales, and discussions about your child’s development.
3️⃣ Collaborate on a plan — whether that includes behavior strategies, school supports, or, if needed, medication management.

✨ Remember: Early recognition and support can make a world of difference. You’re not alone, and seeking help is a sign of strength — not failure. Purposeful Pediatrics is here to guide, assist, and walk this journey with you. 💙

🔥 Motivation Monday 🔥

“Are you winning the crowd but losing the debate?”

As we step into the 4th quarter of the year, it’s the perfect time to pause and check your direction. 👀

✨ In parenting — are we chasing approval, or are we standing firm on what’s best for our kids?
✨ In business — are we busy looking successful, or are we actually building something sustainable?
✨ In relationships — are we trying to keep the peace, or are we nurturing real connection?

Winning the applause means little if you’re losing alignment with your purpose. ✅

💡 This week, take inventory: Are your daily actions pushing you closer to the finish line you’ve been aiming for, or are they pulling you off course?

Monday

“Don’t complain about what you did not get from the work you did not put in.”

As we close out the 3rd quarter of the year, this is the reminder we all need:
✨ In parenting — are we expecting respect, consistency, and peace in our homes without modeling it daily?
✨ In adulthood — are we desiring growth, stability, or freedom without putting in the discipline, savings, or sacrifice it takes?
✨ In relationships — are we longing for love, trust, or connection without investing time, communication, and effort?

🌱 You cannot harvest where you have not planted. The results you want tomorrow require the work you commit to today.

As we evaluate this 3rd quarter, be honest with yourself. 🤔🤓What seeds do you need to plant now to see the harvest you’re hoping for?
