Purposeful Pediatrics, A House Call Medical Service

Purposeful Pediatrics, A House Call Medical Service Filling in the gap... bringing compassionate, quality and equitable healthcare to your doorstep!

I have been working in pediatrics for over 21 years and as a Nurse Practitioner for over 15 years. I have a wide range of experience culminating from a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery to after-hours urgent care to the Pediatric ED at Brenners' Children Hospital. In all these places, I learned that the one of the most important aspects of healthcare is servicing families with dignity and providing accessibility to quality care. In May 2023, I made a decision to follow my heart and walk in my true purpose of bringing accessibility to quality care to the community. I believe that healthcare should be available convenient to families regardless of transportation, work schedules, income or location. Purposeful Pediatrics, PLLC is here to serve children ages 6 months to 17 years of age. At this time, we will manage acute illnesses and provide also sports physicals at the convenience of your home.

🧠 Wednesday Wisdom | Flu A Awareness & Holiday Gatherings 🎄

We are seeing a spike in Flu A, and as families come together over the holidays, it’s important to celebrate wisely while protecting one another—especially our most vulnerable loved ones.

As you gather, keep these 3 key factors in mind to stay safe and healthy:

✨ 1. Supplements & Immune Support
Support your body with immune-boosting supplements as recommended by your provider (like vitamin D, vitamin C, and zinc), stay hydrated, and prioritize rest.

😷 2. Mask Up When Needed
If you have symptoms, recent exposure, or are around high-risk individuals, masking up is an act of love—not fear.

🧠 3. Be Smart & Considerate
Don’t attend gatherings if you’re sick. Wash hands often. Cover coughs and sneezes. And always think about those who are most at risk, the immunocompromised, elderly family members, and babies who rely on us to protect them.

💛 Wednesday Wisdom Reminder:
Being present doesn’t always mean being close—it means being responsible. Protecting others is one of the greatest gifts you can give this season.

Remember, If you have questions, symptoms, or concerns, we are available to help you!

✨🎄Motivation Monday | Christmas Week ✨

“Blessed is not just having more, it’s being more.”
— Pastor Michael McClure Jr.

As we rush to finish up last-minute gifts and check off final to-dos, it’s worth pausing to ask:
What are we associating blessing with?

More gifts? More spending? More doing?
But more doesn’t always mean blessed.

This Christmas, remember that the greatest gift you can offer isn’t found in a bag or box, it’s:
Your presence.
Your time.
Your attention.
Your love.
Being fully present with your family and loved ones is the blessing that lasts far beyond the season.

As you ease into Christmas, choose alignment over excess. Slow down. Be intentional. Show up fully for the people who matter most. Let your heart, not the hustle lead the way.

At Purposeful Pediatrics, we pray that you and your family have a truly BLESSED Christmas filled with peace, love, and remembrance of the true reason for the season. 🎄💛

❄️🏅 Health Tip Tuesday: Supporting Young Athletes During Winter Sports Transitions

As seasons change and temperatures drop, young athletes need a little extra care to stay healthy and perform their best—especially during winter training and outdoor sports.

💡 Key Tips for Winter Sports Success:
1️⃣ Warm up longer. Cold muscles are tighter and more prone to injury. Extra time warming up is especially important for outdoor sports.

2️⃣ Stay hydrated. Even in cooler weather, athletes lose fluids through sweat. Encourage consistent water intake before, during, and after activity.

3️⃣ Rest for recovery. Proper rest helps muscles repair, reduces injury risk, and improves overall performance.

These simple habits play a big role in an athlete’s endurance, strength, and performance throughout the season.

🏥 Did you know?
Purposeful Pediatrics offers convenient sports physicals—right in the comfort of your home or potentially at your child’s school.

💛 Motivation Monday | Purposeful Pediatrics 💛

Don’t measure the effectiveness of your gift by their applause.

As we approach the end of the year, it’s natural to evaluate what worked, what didn’t, and where we poured our energy. But here’s a gentle reminder: impact isn’t always loud—and effectiveness isn’t always immediately affirmed.

This is true in business, in calling, and especially in parenting.
Just because your children don’t acknowledge your effort today doesn’t mean you’re not doing it right.

Consistency matters more than clapping.
Faithfulness matters more than feedback.
Purpose isn’t proven by praise, yet it’s revealed over time.

✨ Take a moment today:
Reflect on the seeds you planted this year. Growth may be happening beneath the surface, even if you can’t see it yet.

Keep showing up.
Keep serving with intention.
Keep trusting the gift you were given.

At Purposeful Pediatrics, our mission remains the same, to serve families with care, compassion, and purpose, whether the applause is loud or quiet.

❄️ Health Tip Tuesday: Managing Dry Skin in the Winter

Cold weather, indoor heat, and hot baths can all dry out your child’s skin during the winter months.

🔎 Did You Know?
Dry winter skin can lead to itching and eczema flare-ups if not properly treated — especially in children with a history of sensitive skin.

💡 Winter Skin Care Tips for Kids:
1️⃣ Moisturize immediately after bathing — apply a thick, fragrance-free cream or ointment while the skin is still damp.
2️⃣ Limit hot baths and showers — warm (not hot) water and shorter bath times protect natural skin oils.
3️⃣ Use gentle products — choose mild, fragrance-free soaps and detergents designed for sensitive skin.

👩🏽‍⚕️🚐🏠If your child has persistent dryness, cracking, or itching that doesn’t improve with home care, let Purposeful Pediatrics help. Early care can prevent infection and discomfort.

💡 Motivation Monday 💡

Arrest Arrogance!
Stop only hearing what doesn’t challenge your image of yourself. Growth doesn’t happen in comfort …it happens in honesty.

Thanksgiving is over and you may feel like you had your fill of correction 😜 One thing to remember is:
Correction isn’t always an attack — it can be love in action. ❤️

If you only listen to what feels good, you’ll miss what could make you better.
The relationships we value most thrive when we stay humble, open, and teachable.

This week ask yourself:
“Is this helping me grow?”
Most times, the answer is yes.

Lean into the feedback from people who love you.

Choose humility.
Choose connection.
Choose growth.

Health Tip Tuesday: A Purposeful Thanksgiving for Your Kids🦃

Thanksgiving is a time for gathering, gratitude… and lots of yummy food! While enjoying your family favorites, here are a few ways to help your children make healthy choices without missing the fun:

🥗 Build a balanced plate – Encourage fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and smaller portions of sugary treats.

💧 Drink water between meals – Staying hydrated helps digestion and prevents over-snacking.

🏃🏽‍♀️ Get moving together – Take a family walk, play a game of tag, or start a friendly football game outside.

Best of all, remember that the sweet moments spent together – laughing, playing, and giving thanks are what make the day truly special. 🧡

Wishing you and your family a healthy, purposeful Thanksgiving!

“What happened with them does not dictate and determine what will happen to you!”

🦄 YOU & YOUR CHILDREN ARE THE EXCEPTION🦄

As this year comes to a close, remember: the patterns of the past do not define your future — or your children’s... Just because something has always been a certain way in your family doesn’t mean it always will be.

🫵🏽You are breaking cycles, shifting narratives, and planting seeds of healing and wholeness that will grow for generations to come.

🫵 You are proving that love, intention, and awareness can rewrite stories.

You’re not just raising children; you’re raising change-makers!

Every moment you choose patience over anger, presence over distraction, or encouragement over criticism you’re shaping greatness!

You are doing an amazing job developing their greatness — and your own. 💛

💜 World Prematurity Day 💜

Today, we pause to honor the tiniest fighters and the incredible families who love, protect, and advocate for them. At Purposeful Pediatrics, we recognize the strength, resilience, and hope woven into every preemie story.

Prematurity isn’t rare — it’s a global issue that deserves awareness and support.
Here are a few important facts every parent and community member should know:

👶🏽1 in 10 babies in the United States is born prematurely.
🍼 Prematurity is the leading cause of death in children under 5 worldwide.
😮‍💨Babies born early often face challenges like breathing difficulties, feeding issues, and temperature regulation — but with the right care, they can thrive.
👨‍👩‍👦 Families of preemies need emotional, physical, and community support. Your presence matters more than you know.
🤰🏼Early prenatal care, reducing stress, avoiding smoking/vaping, and managing chronic conditions can help lower the risk.

💜 To every NICU warrior, every praying parent, every nurse, and every provider-
We see you.
We support you.
We care.
