Took a trip to Yellowstone and Tetons national park! Saw some awesome animals close up and some beautiful views of the landscapes ☺️
Some food highlights:
SNACKS- I always bring snacks on long trips/hikes. The snacks I brought included apples, bananas, clementines, protein snacks like , and , trail mix, cookies and in case we were going to be sweating a lot and needed to re up on electrolytes.
The thought process behind the snack choices- all the fruits provide carbs which is very important fuel for hiking/walking, they also provide vitamins, minerals, water and fiber which is important to keeping the GI system regulated-traveling can often mess up your stomach due to schedule/diet/sleep changes.
We grilled some quality meat, peppers and tortillas. This provided us with good protein, fats and carbs. The red meat will specifically give us good iron which is necessary to help your red blood cells properly circulate oxygen. Red meat is also high in B vitamins which play many different roles in your body including energy conversion, creation of neurochemicals in your brain and red blood cell formation. The bell peppers gave us a ton of vitamin C which importent for keeping your skin healthy, supporting your immune system and is a powerful antioxidant-all of these systems need more help when you’re traveling (increased risk for exposure to germs on flights or crowded areas) and being in the sun for long periods of time.
My friend also brought which is been meaning to try and they were SO good! Diff flavors vary but they were around 300kcals, 20g protein and 6g fiber/ packet and there are so many flavors. I had tiramisu and it was so good! We also added to give an extra 12g protein 💪🏼 this was a great breakfast to give us sustained energy in the beginning of our busy days!
And the last food pic is of fish tacos, this was our first meal off the plane and I just felt blah from the flight so I purposefully chose something that was lower in fat, higher in protein and had a moderate amount of carbs- this felt great on my stomach- not overly full or uncomfortable!
