Winnie is an active 77year old who lives with her family. She enjoys helping her family with household chores and taking care of her grandchildren after school. She suffered a fall at home one night and was unable to get herself up from the ground. She was hospitalized and treated for rhabdomyolisis, a condition where the muscle tissue breaks down causing, pain weakness and stiffness. Winnie came to Five Points Nursing and Rehabilitation for our rehab to home program. Initially, she presented with weakness and poor activity tolerance. Her everyday routine was making her tired. She has been diligent about participating in her OT and PT therapy sessions five days a week and is now able to complete her daily tasks and walk all over the building without being tired or shaky. Winnie has made the most of her time with us by participating in various activities and making friends in addition to attending her therapy sessions. Winnie states “Yall have given me the strength and confidence to do the things I need to do” We’ve been blessed to get to know Winnie and get her back into tip top shape to go home just in time for holiday decorating and baking!
