Before you hit the road this Thanksgiving, take a moment to prep for a smooth trip with your furry co-pilot:

Keep pets safely restrained—no heads out the window!

Plan for frequent pit stops: potty breaks, hydration, and a little stretch.

Stick to their regular meals—holiday snacks aren’t pet-friendly.

Never leave your pet alone in the car, even for a quick stop.

Bring comfort items like their favorite blanket or travel bed to help them feel at home.

Please join us in congratulating Alyssa for being our Employee of the Quarter! Alyssa has been part of the team since September 2019 and we could not do what we do without her! She exemplifies the highest level of patient care and leads her team by example. When asked what she loves most about her job she stated:

"I’ve been working in veterinary medicine for the past eight years, and it’s truly become a part of who I am. I’ve had the privilege of working in shelter medicine, general practice, and now emergency medicine, which I fell in love with over five years ago and haven’t looked back since.

There’s something incredibly special about caring for animals who can’t tell you what’s wrong. It requires patience, intuition, and a deep understanding of their needs—and that challenge is what inspires me every day. I feel so grateful to be able to comfort, treat, and heal the pets who come through our doors, and to help get them back home to the people who love them most.

Every day I get to do what I love—whether that’s taking x-rays, drawing blood, placing IV catheters, or just sitting with a patient who needs a little extra love. This job can be tough, but it’s also one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I can’t imagine doing anything else."

We are so thankful and grateful to have Alyssa as a member of our team! Congratulations Alyssa and thank you for all you do!!

If you've had to visit us towards the end of the week throughout the night, you may have had the opportunity to meet Isaiah. Isaiah is one of our amazing techs who brings caring and compassion to work every day! He is a vital member of our team and we are so grateful he is a part of our hospital!

Meet Sarah! Sarah is one of the techs you will have the pleasure of meeting if you come in to see us during the day at the beginning of the week! Sarah is always learning new things and looking to grow as a technician.

"My name is Sarah, and I've been with Southern Rockies for 4.5 years. I've always known I wanted to work with animals, but just wasn't sure what options were available to me or how to get started. Finally, I decided I was tired of feeling unfulfilled in my career, so I took the leap into vet-med and haven't regretted a single day since. I love the chaos of the ER, the satisfaction of seeing patients leave better than they came in, and thankful that I can provide comfort to those who aren't as fortunate. As cliche as it might sound, my kid really inspired me to follow my dream, and in turn, he's inspired not only by me, but my whole team, to be a vet tech at Southern Rockies one day. I've never worked with such a compassionate group, and they truly do feel like a family. I'm incredibly lucky to be a part of providing the best care possible for our patients."

Thank you for being such an important member of our team and our hospital! We appreciate you!
