To celebrate Easter weekend, Senator Richard Cash introduced S.1095, a resurrected abortion ban that mirrors previously defeated S.323 and pushes South Carolina even closer to a total ban without exceptions.
Let me be clear about what this is. This is not “pro life.” It’s a coordinated effort to punish patients, criminalize the helpers, incarcerate doctors, and eliminate access to abortion care entirely.
S.1095 was introduced by Senator Cash, the man who won’t just give it a rest, and cosponsored by Senators Verdin, Fernandez, Kennedy, Garrett, and Rice. If passed, this bill would:
❌ Make performing an abortion a felony and criminalize the pregnant person
❌Criminalize abortion pills
❌Criminalize possessing, mailing, transporting, or delivering abortion medication
❌Remove r**e, in**st, and fatal fetal anomaly exceptions
❌Add mifepristone and misoprostol to the Schedule IV list of drugs
❌Eliminate the judicial bypass option for minor’s seeking care
❌Mandate the “Baby Olivia” misinformation video or similar content in South Carolina schools
And believe it or not, even more.
This is what a total ban looks like in practice: sweeping, punitive, cruel, and designed to reach into every single corner of people’s lives.
We cannot allow this to move forward. Check out the links in our bio to take action against S.1095 and H. 4760.
