What a day at the State House. We spent the day talking directly with legislators about the realities our communities are facing, building alongside partner organizations, and showing up, together, for reproductive freedom in South Carolina.

There’s something powerful about being in the room. About sharing stories. About reminding decision-makers that our communities are watching, organizing, and not backing down for a single second!

Grateful for the chance to work in community and to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with some of our favorite people.

We wanted to provide an update on H.4760, the anti-abortion medication bill.

Unfortunately, it has passed the house and is now moving onto the Senate where it has been assigned to a subcommittee. If it gets scheduled for a hearing, we will let you know.

Until then, please sign and share this petition (https://bit.ly/4tm4x1x) to our state senators asking them to vote no on H.4760, as well as send a letter (https://bit.ly/4aE7brd) directly to your senator. If enough of us make our voices heard, perhaps they won't take this bill up for the remainder of the legislative session!

There is nothing funny about policies that criminalize abortion or rhetoric that dehumanizes transgender people.

Yesterday on the South Carolina House floor, Rep. Josiah Magnuson made a joke about being transgender. We find this appalling. Families are grieving, and real communities, some right here in South Carolina, are being put at risk.

This kind of rhetoric is especially disturbing from those who claim to be “pro-life.” Transgender people already face disproportionately high rates of depression, harassment, and su***de due to stigma and dehumanization. Mocking their existence from the House floor only adds to that harm.

We believe in dignity, safety, and bodily autonomy for every South Carolinian.
