🌎 Happy Earth Day 🌎

Since its inception, the organizers promote events educating the public about a variety of subjects including:
climate change, air pollution, water pollution, erosion, recycling, composting, renewable fuels and power, carbon footprints, efficient cars, rain forests, & ecosystems.

As citizens of the world, we can take action to protect the Earth, its creatures, and its habitats. Greener living can include more fuel-efficient vehicles or windows. It can also include landscaping for your climate reducing the amount of water required.

Numerous green campaigns launch events around the globe each year. Join one near you or organize one that fits your community's needs.

National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day
Occurs annually on the third Friday in April. The day aims to raise awareness and effectively rid homes of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications sitting in medicine cabinets, nightstands, or kitchen cabinets that have the potential for misuse or abuse by family members, friends, or visitors.



How to Do It Right

How you dispose of your expired or unused medications is just as important as why. Environmental studies show that flushed medications flow into our water supply. They negatively impact the fish we eat and the water we drink. When discarded in the trash, medications leach into and contaminate the soil.
At-home drug disposal solutions offer a simple, convenient and effective way of disposing of unwanted medications. If you have large quantities of leftover medications or as a supplement to at-home drug disposal, you may also consider participating in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA’s) National Drug Takeback Day generally held in the spring and fall of each year.

Happy National Girl Me Too Day
April 7 recognizes the strength and endurance of women of all ages and is an opportunity to show support for each other. Take a moment to look at the women around us. Neighbors, shopkeepers, sisters, even strangers. If you were to ask anyone of them a single thing they have had to overcome many of us could respond, “Girl, me too.”
National Girl, Me Too Day strives to break down divisions among women of all walks of life and remind them they have all carried similar burdens and struggles. By lifting each other up, we help to mend the past and make a better future for our children.

HOW TO OBSERVE
To celebrate National Girl, Me Too Day, give a greeting card of encouragement to a woman you don’t know, a woman you don’t usually associate with or any woman. Wear your Girl Me Too Shirt and post a picture using the hashtags and to share on social media.
