Human Rights -- Columbia earned a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Municipal Equality Index. This is a nationwide assessment of how cities support and protect their LGBTQIA+ residents through laws, policies, and municipal services.

A few weeks ago, an email was sent to our community asking for your support in voting. Marilyn’s theme was chosen as one of the top three finalists—and thanks to your votes and her inspiring vision, she won!

Safe -- Columbia has been ranked one of the top 10 safest cities in the U.S. by personal finance company WalletHub. The city ranked 8th out of 182 eligible cities in the country. The ranking is based on home and community safety, natural disaster risk and financial safety, such as unemployment and job security. Columbia placed second in home and community safety.
