Our community mourns the loss of former Mayor, Dr. Stancil Handley. Stancil was Mayor of Columbiana from 2012 to 2020 and represented Ward 2 from 2008 to 2012. He served in countless other community leadership positions throughout the years.

Stancil was larger than life in every way. A cultured cowboy with equal parts grit and grace, humor and heart. Stancil loved Columbiana and his passion and vision were a driving force behind so much of our city’s growth and spirit. Columbiana is better because of him, and we are better for having known him. His was a life well lived.

We send love and prayers to his family and friends. Thank you, Mayor Handley, for leaving Columbiana better than you found it.
