Judy’s story is one of courage, growth, and giving back.

She once came to Maryhaven seeking support for both addiction and mental health challenges.

Today, she’s in recovery and serves as a Peer Support Specialist, walking alongside others as they find the same hope and healing she worked so hard to achieve.

💬 “Mental health and addiction go hand in hand - and at Maryhaven, you can get what you need.”
💬 “La salud mental y la adicción van de la mano - y en Maryhaven puedes recibir la ayuda que necesitas.”

We’re incredibly grateful for Judy - for her strength, for sharing her voice and for reminding everyone who walks through our doors that recovery is possible and no one has to do it alone.

Our team is the heart of everything we do.

We recently hosted a Maryhaven Health & Wellness Fair to make sure our staff feel supported, informed, and cared for - because when our people are well, they can continue showing up for Central Ohio with compassion and excellence.

As we step into a new year, it feels especially important to reflect on the ways we can prioritize our own health, balance, and well-being so we can continue showing up fully for the people and communities we serve.

The fair gave our team the opportunity to explore employee benefits, wellness resources, and support systems designed to help them thrive - at work and beyond.

Our staff gives so much of themselves every day. Investing in their wellness isn’t just important - it’s essential.

Here’s to a year of supporting one another, practicing self-care, and continuing to restore lives together.

Building strong behavioral health care starts with investing in the people who provide it.

We’re proud to be part of ADAMH’s Behavioral Health Workforce Council and the new Pathways to Practice program - an innovative collaboration with Columbus State Community College designed to introduce students to meaningful careers in community behavioral health.

Through hands-on learning, agency visits, and real-world practicum experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of the vital role community providers play in supporting mental health and addiction recovery across Franklin County.

Maryhaven was honored to host and mentor students in this inaugural cohort, helping them connect classroom learning to compassionate, community-based care.

As workforce shortages continue nationwide, programs like Pathways to Practice are critical to recruiting, supporting, and retaining the next generation of behavioral health professionals - ensuring our community has access to care today and for years to come.

We’re grateful to ADAMH and our partner agencies for working together to strengthen the future of behavioral health - and inspired by the students who are stepping forward to answer the call.

January is Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Month, a nationwide effort led by SAMHSA to raise awareness about the importance of treatment, reduce barriers to care, and remind people that recovery is possible - and it looks different for everyone.

More than 48 million Americans experienced a substance use disorder in the past year, yet only 1 in 5 people who needed treatment were able to access it.

That gap is why awareness, compassion, and access to care matter so deeply.

SUD Treatment Month is about:
• Supporting people who are thinking about or seeking help
• Encouraging families, friends, and loved ones
• Empowering providers with best practices for screening, intervention, and treatment
• Breaking stigma and opening doors to recovery

At Maryhaven, we see every day that there are limitless paths to recovery - and no one should have to walk them alone.

With the right treatment, support services, and community, healing is possible.

Every conversation matters. Every share matters.

Every step toward help can save a life. 💙

Because of you, hope is growing.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we exceeded our Giving Tuesday and end-of-year appeal goals, raising more than $40,000 to support life-saving care at Maryhaven.

This much-needed funding means countless people can enter the new year with hope, support, and a clear path forward.

In 2025, your support helped us:

• Serve thousands of individuals and families across Central Ohio
• Expand access to detox, treatment, and recovery housing
• Help clients reconnect with family, community, and purpose
• Bring comfort, care, and joy to clients spending the holidays with us

There’s still time to give and be part of what’s ahead:

A new year can be a powerful turning point.

NBC4 recently highlighted January as the inaugural Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging people to take meaningful steps toward recovery - from alcohol and drugs to smoking and gambling.

As shared in the story, Ryan Pickut, Vice President of Client Services at Maryhaven Alum Creek, reminds us that January often sparks honest reflection:

A “new year, new you” mindset can open the door to recognizing habits that may be holding us back - and that awareness is the first step toward real change.

He also emphasizes something we see every day at Maryhaven:

👉 You don’t have to fix everything at once.
👉 Focus on the most challenging habit.
👉 And don’t be afraid to ask for support.

Recovery doesn’t happen in isolation.

Whether it’s a support group, treatment services, or simply reaching out for help, support makes all the difference.

If 2025 feels like your moment to leave unhealthy habits behind, know this: help is available, and recovery is possible.

Maryhaven is here to walk with you every step of the way - 24/7.
