Seeing my cards out and about in the places I shop is so surreal. Some there from clients, some there from shop owners I’ve grown to know and love. It’s has been an absolutely wild first quarter. 43 births in 3 months, and many many prenatals and postpartums. Big changes and announcements are coming with all of this hard work. Im especially thankful for my teams and family and their unwavering support as I climb this final mountain.

This is what real out of hospital birth NRP training looks like.
Not just checking a box, but stepping into the moment.

Out of hospital midwives don’t just learn neonatal resuscitation… we practice it in the environments where birth actually happens.

Waterbirth. Tight spaces. Hands on. Cord intact.
Real life. Real decisions.

Because when a baby needs support transitioning earthside, there is no time to think twice, only to act with skill, presence, and evidence based care.

The Umbilical Cord: God’s Lifeline of Design

This is a cross section of an umbilical cord. You are not just seeing tissue. You are looking at one of the most astonishing works of divine engineering.

Inside this elegant design are two arteries and one vein, wrapped in a protective cushion called Wharton’s jelly. This jelly keeps the vessels from twisting or collapsing, making sure the baby’s lifeline is never interrupted.

Through those vessels flow oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies from the mother, while waste and carbon dioxide are carried away. It is a two way system that operates with flawless timing, connecting two bodies in perfect harmony.

While the baby’s lungs are not yet breathing and its stomach is not yet digesting, this cord does it all. It feeds, cleans, and sustains life. And when the child enters the world, it seals off naturally. No design flaw. No mistakes. Just precision.

No random process could ever produce a system that links two human lives, sustains one through the other, and then detaches right on schedule.

What you are seeing here is not evolution. It is the craftsmanship of the Creator.

Our Story

//Collaborative (n) : “produced or conducted by two or more parties working together.”//

Who I am..

Welcome, I am The Birth Collaborative. I am a mother to an angel baby. I am a wife. I am a vegan. I am a space holder. I am a researcher. I am an educator. I am a friend. I am an advocate. I am a support. I am a confidant. I am a midwifery assistant. I am a doula.

My name is Hanna and I founded The Birth Collaborative in August of 2019. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and I have been married to my high school sweetheart since October of 2016. In early 2017, I went on a health journey that forever changed my life. I began researching a plant based diet to heal my body. Down the rabbit hole of enlightenment, I discovered the midwifery model of care and knew this was a path I wanted to be on. After several years of questioning my calling, I finally took the plunge into birth work. My first step in the process was to become a doula. I quickly fell in love with supporting women during their crossover into motherhood. I want to do nothing more than watch women come into their power as they navigate their beautiful pregnancy and labor journey. I feel called above all else in life to be a space holder for the sacredness of birth. Although the picture shown is not myself, this embodies how I want every mother to feel during pregnancy and birth.
