Second recertification certificate! 🤩

Did you know DONA certified doulas have to recertify every 3 years?

This recertification involves submitting continuing education hours so we stay on top of the latest information out there.

This is how we are able to provide evidence based information to our clients and the latest research around maternal health.

Doulas are always learning! 📚

Grateful for DONA and my trainer and mentor Thank you! 🫶🏼

Things we discuss in this class:

✨ Inductions- elective and medically necessary

✨ Why movement in labor is important and why dilation doesn’t mean much

✨ Routine interventions and how to avoid them

The ice challenge! 🧊 A great way to train your mind to focus during contractions!

You want to train yourself to withstand the ice cube for one minute, so that when labor comes, you are able to maintain your focus through the contractions, one at a time.

* Hold the ice cube in your hand
* Start the timer
* Focus on how cold it is, how your hand hurts when holding it
* Notice where you are holding tension in your body. Notice what thoughts are coming up.
* When the timer goes off put the ice down

Take a break. Come back with a new ice cube.

* Hold the ice cube in your hand
* Start the timer
* Think about calming your mind REALLY focus on it
* Focus on slow breathing - in your nose, out your mouth
* Relax your shoulders and your face
* Think encouraging thoughts or say them out loud (I can do this, this is temporary, I am strong, etc.)
* When the timer goes off put the ice down

Notice the difference when you were focused on how cold the ice was, and the time when you were focused on something else.

Birth requires a positive mindset. Your mind needs to be trained to stay calm when you feel pain, your body needs to be trained to relax instead of tensing up.

Do this exercise often leading up to your birth and see how much easier it gets each time you do it.

Good luck! Let me know if it was helpful!
