What you may have not realized about a “broken heart.” 👀

While it largely feels emotional… it’s neurological. Your brain actually wires itself around what you’ve experienced, especially in relationships. So when you keep finding yourself drawn to the same kind of person, the same tensions, or the same push and pull.

It’s familiarity.

And your nervous system will choose what’s familiar over what’s safe… until you teach it a new way. Healing doesn’t just come by “moving on” or “praying it away.” We have to slow down enough to recognize the pattern, learn how to regulate our responses, and allow our brain to experience a different kind of connection.

Much like breaking a toddler from a binky! It is gut-wrenching painful to them at first but once they dissociate comfort from it, they are able to exist without it. 👏

Your thoughts are powerful, but they are not always truthful.

A trauma-trained nervous system can produce thoughts that feel urgent, convincing, and absolute. It can tell you that you are unsafe, unworthy, abandoned, or destined to repeat the same painful patterns. But many of these thoughts are not reflections of reality; they are echoes of past experiences your brain learned.

The mind can confuse familiarity with truth.

Learning to pause, question your internal narrative, and bring awareness to the patterns that drive your thinking is one of the first steps toward healing. Not every thought deserves your agreement. Some thoughts are simply signals that your nervous system is trying to protect you based on old information.

You are allowed to challenge the story your mind is telling you. You are allowed to rewrite the patterns that no longer serve you.

End the stigma. Reach out. 🧡

Most relationships don’t fall apart because people hate each other. They slowly weaken because the real things are never named.

There is tension, hurt, unhealthy patterns that keep repeating. So the relationship learns to survive by staying on the surface.

But what stays unspoken waits underneath, shaping everything about the relationship.

Eventually, every relationship reaches the same crossroads:
