The last two years have been stressful simply because when you go into certain professions, they don't prepare you for what awaits when you're almost at the finish line. Many Black clinicians are often left out of the mental health field because not only due to the financial barriers but also due to the standardized exams that prevents professional advancement, negotiating higher pay, and ultimately leaving the very communities they want to serve, without cultural representation. That clinical was me! While today I got to celebrate a milestone in my career, I will continue to advocate for better licensing policies that have left so many defeated!
