RECENT OSHA NEWS: This is one of those updates that makes leaders pause 🔋

If a lithium ion battery causes an injury at work, OSHA is likely going to consider it work-related. Even if it was personal property. Even if the office did not supply it. Even if it was brought from home.

This is not about fault. It is about recordkeeping, risk exposure, and being prepared before something small turns into something serious.

This can mean office items (Handheld scanners, portable radiography accessories, headlamps).

OR personal devices (Power charging banks, wireless earbuds, smart watches).

Dental and medical teams use these devices every day. That means this is not theoretical. It is OPERATIONAL.

That constant moment of pause in the middle of a busy day feels familiar for a reason 👀🧠

Most healthcare teams are not cutting corners. They are moving fast, covering gaps, answering questions on the fly, and carrying a lot of responsibility at once. When systems live in people’s heads instead of on paper, uncertainty sneaks in.

That is when the quiet stress shows up.
Did we already handle this
Did someone get trained
Are we actually covered here

This is not a motivation problem. It is a systems problem. And it is incredibly common across both small practices and large organizations.

But Karen, what do you mean? We all have to follow OSHA regulations.🤔 Yes, let me explain…

In smaller practices, it shows up as inspection anxiety and last minute scrambling.

In larger systems, it shows up as responsibility across teams, locations, and leadership layers.

Different scale. Same pressure.
After working with thousands of dental and healthcare teams nationwide, one thing is always clear.
The issue is rarely effort.
It is usually inconsistent.

And inconsistency quietly increases risk over time.
The good news is this is manageable! So no need to start panicking.

With the right structure, safety becomes clearer, calmer, and far less reactive.
