Struggling to start a healthy lifestyle? Not sure where to begin or the right steps to take? With so much information out there, it can get so confusing! Here are four steps that you can start today to get yourself going in the right direction - not rules to follow that someone else created, but ways to begin living a life that works FOR YOU!
1. When life happens, it’s easy to fall back on old, familiar habits. “I want to lose ___ lbs.” is a great goal, but can easily be pushed aside. The reason you want to lose that weight may be harder to disregard.
2. There will be days when your schedule is jam-packed or you just don’t have it in you to exercise or do something for your health. Creating a bare minimum will ensure that you always are taking care of yourself, forging into your mind that health is a priority. It should be easily accomplished no matter the day - drink a glass of pure water, take 5 deep breaths, walk from room to room 3 times - just something to build the relationship between you and a healthy life.
3. “Time is money.” Invest in this way of life with your time. Days when you have no wiggle room, look at #2. But you can’t make a change if you don’t give yourself the opportunity.
4. Try new things! You don’t like lifting weights? That’s ok! There are so many ways to move your body, or healthy foods you can add to your diet, or different methods to calm your mind. What works for me may not work for you, but that doesn’t mean NOTHING will work for you! Try new things!

BACK in the day. HA! 🤣 From the last competition I did in Colorado, then I took this routine to Las Vegas for the international contest. I remember finishing up rehearsal for the Nutcracker in Denver, then driving overnight through a snowstorm to Vegas. One of the scariest drives of my life! I drove behind a semi going about 15 mph through the mountains 😳 got to the venue about 10 minutes before my spray tan 🤌

annual gala “Light up the Night” returns to the Curtis Ballroom (Denver, CO) on November 5th. Get your best masquerade attire (or black tie) ready for a fun evening of fundraising that includes a competitive silent auction, games, heart warming testimonies, and of course great dance from the company and our pre-professional ensemble . Meditate, and they will come 🤣🦁🐲

📢BE POSITIVE📢 a line we hear all the time - great advice, but how to do it in the face of negativity? One way I “stay positive” is to become unconditional love. The idea is not to make the thinking mind put a positive spin on a negative, but to just be filled with positive (love) and situations come to you - not to be labeled good or bad, just the present moment.

Meditating while feeling universal love flowing through my body is a favorite. Eyes closed like Wally🐲or with purrs like Boo🦁 is great.

A day to day method I tend to always practice is love and kindness to animals. If given the opportunity, help out any animal - spider in the house, worm on the sidewalk, hungry squirrel.*
This has helped me become more aware of situations that would instantly make me angry, annoyed, or upset and I can see myself reacting differently. More importantly, I can see the areas I still need to bring love to. (In fact, I lost this entire post last night when my Insta shut down - I still need to breath into my heart space, for sure!)

*Warning- It sounds great, but it can get cumbersome when your wife can’t find you for 45 minutes - on vacation in Hawaii - because you’re helping a bee dry off 🤦‍♂️🤣
