As midwives, we support and assist the birthing parents in their journey through pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. It is our belief that pregnancy and childbirth are normal, healthy life processes, and life-altering spiritual family events rather than medical emergencies. We believe that women make good choices for themselves and their families when given adequate information and support. We offer families information and support, and trust the parent(s) to make the best choices for their family. We have faith in a woman's amazing ability to nourish and birth her baby because we know that women's bodies have been refined over countless generations to do so. Women are designed to give birth and babies are designed to be born, and we know that the process of birth has intrinsic value for both mother and baby. We offer a biodynamic model of care that allows each baby’s birth to unfold in its own unique way. While well-being of mother and baby are the center of midwifery care, we understand that there is a realm of what is normal for each pair. We are committed to providing woman-centered, individualized care to meet the needs of each woman, and her family, in this powerful time of growth and transformation.

This really needs changed!
This language is taking away women’s right to decline medical care while still receiving care from her midwife. It also legislates that midwives abandon women who decline to follow arbitrary medical rules not backed by evidence.
It’s leading to completely unnecessary transfers, increased intervention like induction and cesarean which carry high risks themselves, and rising obstetric violence and trauma.
Families need to be aware of this and insist it be changed!!!

After 16 years I’m still in awe of the awesome beauty of physiologic birth. Always learning nuances of this powerful process of transformation and ways of supporting women in their raw power. Deepening my listening to the wisdom of and my connection as part of nature. Thank you to all of the families whom I’ve been honored to work with, you are my greatest teachers 💕
