Big game today!! We love NJ's football-based PSA.

Here are some tips for being present:
1. Dedicate a space for working and checking messages - an office, a guest room, a closet… Someplace that sends the message that the kitchen and family room are for being present with family. When you train your brain to disconnect from devices in designated spaces, it will become a habit.
2. Put devices away when you’re spending time with your family, regardless of where you are. Out of sight often means out of mind. If you struggle with this, make a conscience effort. When devices are away, real conversations happen. Connecting with your kiddos is your number one priority.
3. Set expectations. Let people outside of your home get accustomed to you not always being available. This sets an example for teens who risk developing anxiety around disconnecting for any amount of time. Messages and calls can wait. If you do need to check, step out of the room and warn your kids when you’re doing it. Say, “I need 10 minutes to check my work messages and then you’ll have my full attention.”
