No disagreement here! An oral exam should be a part of each and every consultation. Remembering that it is a three part assessment: physical exam and visual assessment, mother & baby symptoms, combined with the ability to function to do the job of breastfeeding!

You can’t just count on weight gain, you can’t just count on milk transfer. It is much more complicated to assess and is why an experienced IBCLC is needed.

If you are experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding:
1. Painful latch
2. Difficulty latching, maintaining the latch
3. Slow or absent weight gain

Please find an experienced IBCLC to help you navigate this difficult territory and guide you through this journey.

It’s really hard being a new parent right now! Let’s just say it like it is!

It’s hard to be so isolated just when you might Iike some help, connection, and community! And even a hug!!

While COVID is keeping us isolated more or less and you are feeling stressed- make sure you reach out in other ways if needed! There is FaceTime, Zoom mom groups (The Village and more!

We are also here to support you if you are feeling like you are googling all day, trying to figure it out all alone- you don’t have to............we are here for you!

Baby #2! So exciting - and a chance for a better and more prepared breastfeeding journey!

Did you have your first baby without preparing a lot for your breastfeeding journey? - many moms do

Did you feel pressured to supplement in the hospital with formula and then feel like you never got back on track once home?

Did you know that the Affordable Care Act (i.e Obamacare) is what ensure you are provided a breastpump from your insurance?

Did you know the ACA states that breastfeeding help (lactation care) is to be provided at no cost to breastfeeding/chestfeeding persons?

Did you know that the ACA states you can not be denied health care with pre-existing conditions?

Thinking about breastfeeding?

You’re in good company- most mamas say they want to breastfeed which is certainly good news!

What will make the difference between being successful and maybe struggling?

Being informed makes all the difference. Scheduling a prenatal consultation can help you to gather info, understand the changes that your body will undergo, how you will make milk, how your baby can help you, how to know if things are going well, how to know if baby is getting enough, how to overcome problems IF they occur. All this and more is what occurs at a prenatal consultation.

Best of all- a prenatal consultation can take place in person or even via telehealth. We can also help you to find an IBCLC near you if needed once baby comes.

We want you to be successful and for you to LOVE breastfeeding!
