Self-Injury is often misunderstood. It isnโt about attention or manipulation. For many people, itโs a way to cope with overwhelming emotions, numbness, trauma, or pain that feels impossible to express.
If you struggle with self-injury, please know this:
You are not broken.
You are not alone.
And your pain is valid.
Healing is possible with support, safe coping skills, and spaces where you can talk openly without judgment.
Some alternatives people use when urges feel intense:
โจ Holding ice or snapping a rubber band
โจ Writing or drawing what youโre feeling
โจ Taking a cold or hot shower
โจ Reaching out to someone safe
โจ Grounding exercises or deep breathing
If you support someone who struggles with self-injury, the most powerful thing you can do is listen with compassion, not shame.
Letโs break the stigma and create conversations where people feel safe asking for help. ๐
If youโre struggling, reaching out to a trusted person, therapist, or crisis line can make a difference. You deserve support.
