Hey everyone!
Ever wondered why we use and believe in beeswax for our products instead of a vegan plant wax? Well there’s so many reasons!
-Beeswax has amazing healing properties for the skin and is perfect for wound healing as it promotes skin cell regeneration.
-Just like honey, Beeswax is antibacterial and anti fungal, reducing risks of contamination making it perfect for our balm!
-it’s waterproof and moisturizing to the skin. This waterproof quality has a special characteristic when used on the skin; it’s an occlusive! Meaning it creates a barrier on the skin and completely seals in moisture. It’s also an emollient, which means it helps hydrate the skin too.
-All oils and waxes are rated on a scale of 0-5 on how bad they can clog your pores. This number is known as an oil/wax’s comedogenic rating. Beeswax is a 2! Meaning that it has a moderately low chance of clogging pores. The rating 2 is also the rating of our body’s own natural oils!
-anti-allergy; this wax actually has anti-allergic properties and is one of the reasons it works so well for those suffering from eczema and irritated skin. (Few people may have a rare allergic reaction depending on personal allergies; however most people with allergies do not have a reaction to beeswax nor honey).
-Beeswax is actually good for the environment. With the dwindling populations of honeybees, honey and beeswax farms actually give homes to many many hives of bees! Without these bees we would not have 70+% of the crops we eat today that require pollination to grow their fruit. Bees are the life-line of our world!
-Beeswax NEVER goes bad!! Beeswax is a great example of how certain oils and waxes can preserve themselves. Nature is amazing! No need for artificial preservatives 😝
