Something I’ve been learning through this vagus nerve series is how connected our stress, nervous system, and immune health really are.

When our body stays in stress mode too long, vagal tone can drop. That can leave inflammation quietly smoldering in the background and make it harder for the body to fully repair.

When the vagus nerve is supported, the body can shift back into rest, repair, and reset mode — where our immune system works much more efficiently.

This isn’t about a quick fix. It’s about supporting the body the way God designed it to function. 🌿

Your vagus nerve may simply be exhausted.

A few simple habits that support the nervous system:

✔️ Keep a steady sleep schedule
✔️ Take slow nose breaths in the morning
✔️ Eat slowly and pause between bites
✔️ Sit or stand tall for better breathing
✔️ Sip water throughout the day
✔️ End the day with gratitude

Small habits can help the body shift back toward calm and repair.

Cholesterol… the REAL story?

I recently got my blood work back and my total cholesterol was 237.

Years ago the “normal” range used to go up to 300, but over time the guidelines have been lowered to 200… and some experts believe they may lower it again.

Something interesting many people don’t realize:

Your body makes cholesterol for a reason.

It’s used to:
• Build hormones
• Repair cells
• Support the brain
• Help fight infections

And as we age, the body may produce more cholesterol because repair needs increase.

That doesn’t mean we ignore our health — but it does mean looking at the full picture, not just one number.

For example, doctors now also look at things like:
• HDL (“good” cholesterol)
• Triglycerides
• Inflammation markers
• Blood sugar

Health is always about context, not just a single lab result.

I’m continuing to focus on what I know works:
✨ clean nutrition
✨ liver support
✨ healthy fats
✨ movement & sunshine
✨ stress reduction

The body is incredibly wise when we support it naturally.

Your vagus nerve connects your brain, gut, and immune system. When it’s under stress, the body can struggle to stay in rest-and-repair mode.

A few clues it may need support:

• Feeling full or bloated after small meals
• Waking up tired even after enough sleep
• Sensitivity to noise or bright lights
• Cold hands and feet
• Catching every bug that goes around

Over the past few weeks I’ve been studying something fascinating — the vagus nerve.

It’s a single nerve that connects the brain, heart, lungs, gut, and immune system.

When the vagus nerve is functioning well, the body can move out of constant “fight or flight” stress and into rest, repair, and recovery.

Simple daily practices may support vagal tone, such as:

• calming music
• warm caffeine-free drinks in the evening
• gratitude practices before sleep
• gentle stretching or relaxation
• reducing constant stimulation

What I find most encouraging is this:

Our bodies are not broken.
Sometimes they just need the right signals to feel safe again.

I’ll be sharing a few insights as I continue learning about the connection between the nervous system and whole-body health.

Hello my name is Ruthie Daugherty! Until two years ago I was working for Fred Smith @ Fedex Corp as a Courier! In 2016 I heard that we could retire at 55 years old and draw a pension. That really got my attention; since I was turning 55 that year in July. I immediately started making plans to switch careers! In the beginning I loved my J.O.B (just over broke) not until the last few years of my 20 year career; did I realize I had no Life! Fedex controlled my Life in every aspect. Sixty hours was the most we could work in a week; and that happened often. It was impossible to have a relationship with friends & family; especially around Christmas! I was always working; trading time for money! No Time Freedom!

Just as I was about to finish my on-line course with Health Coach Inst. and be Certified as a Health Coach; the Coffee fell in my lap!!!!
