Annual Lights of Love
December 5, 2025
5:00 – 6:30 PM
Downtown Cook
Each November, the annual Lights of Love fund raising campaign launches to coincide with National Hospice and National Family Caregivers Month.
Lights of Love gives you a special chance to remember and celebrate loved ones while helping ensure quality hospice support in our community.
When making a general donation or memorial, you are supporting local hospice and hospice eligible patients and their families in the communities of Cook, Embarrass, Tower, Ely and surrounding areas with comfort care, last wishes and needs not covered by insurance.
Your tax-deductible donation will be honored at our annual tree lighting ceremonies. The Lights of Love ceremony held downtown Cook at the gazebo will include new activities to help make the event a memorable family tradition. We invite you to enjoy the tree lighting, complimentary food and beverage, a warming area, with a community movie to follow.
Continuing the tradition of the Lights of Love event, the Virgie Hegg Hospice Foundation offers three levels of giving, each symbolized by a special "light." Supporters may choose to contribute at the following levels:
$5 – Bulb: Represents a single shining light in honor or memory of a loved one.
$10 – Ice Candle: Symbolizes a glowing tribute, adding warmth to our community celebration.
$25 – String of Lights: Brightens the entire event, creating a lasting impact for patients and families.
Please note that the donation levels offered during the Lights of Love campaign are symbolic in nature. By selecting a level of support, you are choosing a meaningful way to honor or remember loved ones and to contribute to the mission of the Virgie Hegg Hospice Foundation.
These options do not represent the purchase of physical items; rather, each donation helps provide comfort and care to local hospice patients and their families.
The Foundation appreciates your support and looks forward to welcoming you at the annual Lights of Love event.

Annual Hope for Hospice 5K Run Fundraiser

This year, the route was updated to begin at Veterans River Park, providing a fresh experience for participants. Many runners remarked on how much they enjoyed the new course, noting the scenic and welcoming atmosphere.

The Foundation extends its gratitude to everyone who joined the run and contributed to making this year’s event a memorable occasion.
Cinco de Mayo Community Dinner
On May 5, 2025, the Virgie Hegg Hospice Foundation sponsored a festive Cinco de Mayo dinner at the community center. This gathering brought families and friends together for an evening of good food and fellowship, all in support of hospice care.
