Nothing is more rewarding than meeting a new patient I delivered 25 years ago, and being able to review my records to tell her how much she weighed at birth. It made my day. I did not go into this field to make money, but I have done very well. I went into medicine so that people would remember me long after I die for helping them. My grandfather was an ear nose and throat surgeon in Memphis and chief of staff of Baptist in the early 50s. He died in 53. As a child of the 60s and 70s I often met people who heard my name and asked if I was related to Dr. Bill Stinson. I got to hear wonderful stories of the care he had provided to his patients including doing a tracheotomy on a kitchen table to save a woman's life. After many hard years and failures in life, I finally feel successful.
