I just posted GEDitCOM II, version 3.3. GEDitCOM II will tell you new version is available or go to https://www.geditcom.com for the download. The new version was verified working in MacOS Tahoe. The "Create Generations Book" extension was rewritten using "Internal Scripting" methods to be 10 times faster and to again typeset the book for you. A new iPhone app (coming soon) will work well with GEDitCOM II. Other new features are in the "What's New" help topic.

I just posted version 3.2 with lots of new features and a feature (which was useful to me) to automate web searches into FamilySearch.org data bases. GEDitCOM II will tell you new version is available or go to https://www.geditcom.com for the download (also recently updated to https status).

I just posted a quick update to GEDitCOM II, version 3.1, build 3. It turns out build 2 had display issues in the recent MacOS update to Sonoma 14.3.1 (and I think only that version). This new posting fixes all known Sonoma issues and is recommended even if build 2 is working for you in an older MacOS.

I just posted official release of GEDitCOM II, version 3.1. Although it is called "build 2," it is the first posted version 3.1 (build 1 was only made available to some testers). This version was built and tested in MacOS Sonoma and requires MacOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or newer.

Many little changes are in the "What's New" topic of the Help window. One change is to be "smarter" about opening windows. I found myself having too many open record browsers. This new version keeps record browser windows to a minimum. Some documentation in help lets you revert to old style if you want (or just hold down option key whenever you want more windows to open).

I also added more options for internal scripting and the Web Site export script was rewritten as an internal script using those new options. the new web site export is much faster and includes more multimedia that was ignored before.

GEDitCOM II, version 3.0, build 3 is now available at http://www.geditcom.com. The main new feature is an option to save family tree customizations as a "tree style," and then to switch back and forth between styles whenever you want. See the new "Tree Style" submenu.

An important reason for this new build was to verify working in new MacOS Ventura. This version was built in Ventura and seems to work fine. A Ventura "bug" caused a couple of extensions written in Python or as internal scripts to stop working. Those extensions are now working again.

Most other changes were to fix minor bugs or to convert some more extensions to the more reliable (i.e., not prone to Apple whims) and faster internal scripting methods. See "What's New" in application help for all the details.

GEDitCOM II version 3.0 is available now! It includes support for the latest official GEDCOM standard and speedier scripting and reports.

Place Advisor continues to expand and improve, having over 100,000 cemeteries and their locations identified in the U.S. alone!

I just posted a minor upgrade to GEDitCOM II as version 2.7 build 7. It is available on http://www.geditcom.com.

1. The issue where relationship charts would not show portraits is now fixed (it was caused by Apple's recent changes to WebKit tools). You can also now copy such charts to a Notes record if you want to preserver it in your file (as discussed in a previous thread on this group).

2. For those who like "regular expressions," the search option now lets you "match" or "not match" a provided regular expression.

I just posted GEDitCOM II, version 2.7, build 6. It fixes two crashes reported by users that could occur after uncommon editing tasks (see What's New help topic for more details). This upgrade is free to all registered users.

I just posted GEDitCOM II, version 2.7, build 5.

When helping a user resolve dark mode issues, I noticed I had not created dark mode options for family tree windows. That is fixed in build 5. You can use preferences to pick colors for all tree element separately for light mode and dark mode (or make then the same if want trees to look the same in both modes).

I also improved the "span" expression (mostly used in "Lifespan" column in the index widow). It looks for more events to find birth and death years and sorts better.

I just posted 2.7, build 4. The only change in build 4 is that build 3 was not able to tell users of build 2 that a new version was available. Build 4 fixes that issue.

I just posted GEDitCOM II version 2.7, build 3. The only change was to fix an issue that could crash if a window was closed while it was in the middle of loading html content (from a web site of entered into notes). This new version was also compiled and tested on a Mac with M1 chip and Big Sur MacOS.
