Kasey Mackley’s journey to nursing began with a powerful experience as a teenager when a nurse’s compassion changed her hospital stay—and her life. Today, that same empathy shines through in her work at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, where she advocates tirelessly for patients and ensures they feel seen and cared for. 🌼✨
Her dedication stood out when she eased a patient’s anxiety during a critical cardiac admission, coordinating care and championing comfort at every step. Kasey credits her team for fostering a culture of advocacy and says, “Speaking up can make all the difference.” 🌼👏 We’re proud to celebrate her DAISY award for commitment to compassionate care! 💚 🌼🌟

When care goes beyond the clinical, amazing things happen. 💙

After a full day of patient visits, Stacey Randolph, RN and palliative care coordinator, made time to visit a patient whose family was feeling overwhelmed. She helped the patient get comfortable, changed sheets and offered guidance to reduce pressure sores – likely preventing an Emergency Department visit in the process.

Stacey’s dedication to putting patients and families first is what makes her one of Samaritan Albany General Hospital's November Rising Stars. Thank you, Stacey, for going the extra mile to provide comfort and support. 🌟

We’re proud to honor Brittany Sellers, RN, with the DAISY Award at Samaritan Albany General Hospital! 🌼

Brittany has been part of the Women’s Center team for seven years, and her passion for nursing is evident in the way she cares for patients and supports her colleagues. She was nominated by a patient who described her as a source of strength and encouragement during a challenging labor and delivery. From hours of support during labor to gentle guidance after birth, Brittany’s compassion made all the difference.

Her supervisor calls her “a shining star” and someone who gives her all, no matter the situation. Brittany, thank you for the grace and dedication you bring to every family you serve. 💙

Healing is hard. Healing while hungry is even harder.

Because of generous community support, the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation provides six emergency food backpacks each month to those in need. Each one has three days of ready-to-eat food for patients who need help right away.

These backpacks support people who are unhoused, living without power or unable to cook. It’s simple, practical help that keeps people nourished while they heal.

They’re pros at finding the thread that connects us all. 🧵💛

Because when someone in our community faces cancer, it takes all of us - care teams, families, neighbors and local businesses, working together to lift them up.

Through the Samaritan Foundations PRIDE Partner program, Spearit Beads & Co. gave a generous gift to cancer care at Albany General Hospital Foundation. They’re helping patients and families feel a little more supported and a little less alone.

Now that’s what we call art with heart. 🎨💕

Some of our wonderful volunteers at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital prefer a behind-the-scenes, quiet and creative approach to their volunteerism, which perfectly describes our Pillows and Plush/Toy team!

More than a dozen people donate their time and talent to create huggable, comforting, smile-making works of heart. Volunteers, friends/family of volunteers, employees and community members carefully craft “Hug Me” pillows, prayer shawls, hats, scarves, toys and specially designed hospice bears. Each act of kindness counts - giving an extra smile for pediatric patients, a layer of warmth to someone facing the cold, something soft to hug after surgery.

When you see a patient looking great in their knit stocking hat or a sweet newborn baby wrapped in a beautiful Christmas stocking, we hope your heart smiles knowing that there are beautiful, caring people in our community and beyond who are making something simply from a graceful heart.

The photos show:
- Laurie Ferris, SPCH Auxiliary President, with piles of pillows.
- Marla Fields modeling a prayer shawl donation.
- Liz Young, SPCH Auxiliary Gift Shop co-manager, with plush toys.
