My philosophy as a Licensed Massage Therapist is deeply rooted in the concept of 'mind and body.' While I focus on providing relief from structural issues, my primary objective is to calm the nervous system.

Check out this video of an Oakworks electric massage table. It will show you what my new massage table does.

The ABC system is great for helping keep the spine in better alignment and also more comfortable for women when they are lying face down.

When lying face up the ABC pad can support the cervical spine. Or be used on the thoracic region to open up the chest wall, especially when combined with stretching.

Mine arrived yesterday and we got it all set up last night after work. FYI current clients, my previous stationary table had a built in heater versus a heating pad style topper i could remove and place on the table. Sorry to say, for now this one won't be heated. I will be adding a topper soon. I am trying to decide which style i want to go with.

I always choose quality and what benefits my clients the most. So i am looking for something specific - low EMF emissions, plush feeling and natural fibers like cotton insted of polyester and fleece, etc.

Despite the lack of a heated top you all will be extremely comfy on my new table! It feels fabulous, 4" thick areocel padding, the new face cradle is great too!

The powered ABC System is adjustable to create the perfect level of support for each client, taking pressure off the breasts and tension out of their back.

🔴 Red Light Therapy & Your Lymphatic System

Red light therapy (RLT), also called low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive treatment using red and near-infrared light (600–1000 nm). While popular for skin rejuvenation and pain relief, studies show RLT also influences the lymphatic and immune systems, making it a promising therapy for inflammation, swelling, and detoxification.

💡 How Red Light Therapy Works – The Science
• Photons pe*****te tissue: Red (600–700 nm) pe*****tes skin layers, while near-infrared (800–1000 nm) reaches muscles, vessels, and even lymph nodes.
• Mitochondrial activation: Light is absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase, a key enzyme in the mitochondria. This boosts ATP production, improving energy availability for lymphatic vessel contraction and tissue repair.
• Nitric oxide release: RLT promotes vasodilation, improving microcirculation and oxygen delivery. Better blood flow = easier waste exchange between blood and lymph.
• Reactive oxygen species (ROS) modulation: At therapeutic doses, RLT balances ROS, triggering anti-inflammatory pathways without causing oxidative damage.

🌊 Effects on the Lymphatic System
1. Enhanced Lymphangiogenesis
• Studies show RLT stimulates growth of new lymphatic vessels, improving drainage in areas with lymphatic injury or surgery.
2. Improved Lymphatic Contractility
• Lymphatic vessels are muscular tubes that contract to move fluid. RLT increases ATP, which improves lymphangion pumping action.
3. Reduced Inflammatory Load
• By lowering TNF-α, IL-6, and other cytokines, RLT eases congestion and decreases tissue fluid buildup.
4. Post-Surgical Benefits
• Clinical trials in breast cancer patients show RLT reduces lymphedema volume, pain, and fibrosis when used alongside standard care.

🧬 Clinical Evidence
• Breast Cancer–Related Lymphedema:
RLT significantly reduced arm swelling and improved range of motion in women post-mastectomy (Carati et al., Lasers in Surgery and Medicine 2003).
• Autoimmune Conditions:
Animal studies show RLT improves lymphatic drainage and reduces systemic inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis and lupus models.
• Wound Healing:
By accelerating lymphatic clearance, RLT speeds recovery from ulcers and surgical wounds.

🌟 How to Optimize RLT for Lymph Flow
• Dosage:
• Red light (600–700 nm) → superficial lymphatics, skin swelling, puffiness.
• Near-infrared (800–1000 nm) → deeper lymph nodes (neck, abdomen, groin).
• Duration & Frequency:
• 10–20 minutes, 3–5x per week.
• Start with lower intensity, gradually build up.
• Best areas to target:
• Neck & clavicle: where lymph drains into the bloodstream.
• Abdomen & liver: supporting detox and lymph-liver connection.
• Arms & legs: for localized swelling or fluid retention.
• Synergy: Combine RLT with manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), hydration, gentle movement, and anti-inflammatory nutrition for maximum effect.

💚 Final Thought

Red light therapy is more than skin-deep — it works at a cellular and vascular level to energize tissues, reduce inflammation, and restore lymphatic rhythm. By improving both lymph flow and liver clearance, RLT supports your body’s natural detox cycle, helping you feel lighter, clearer, and more resilient.

Unlocking Chronic Pain

Have you heard about CPSP? Did you know Chronic Post-Surgical Pain can affect you years after a procedure.

I am currently taking my first Dolphin MPS continuing education course on Scar Tissue Release and learning how to use their device so I can further help my clients with their chronic pain issues. MPS Therapy uses microcurrent stimulation devices to treat and release scar tissue, which is often the hidden culprit behind persistent discomfort.

Scars are more than just surface marks; they create dense, inflexible fibrotic tissue that can restrict movement, cause adhesions around organs, bones, muscles and even disrupt the body's natural internal "electrical" flow. Dolphin MPS works by applying concentrated micro-impulses to the scar’s perimeter to "repolarize" the tissue. This process helps break down internal adhesions and fascia restrictions, effectively "reawakening" the skin’s ability to heal. The microcurrent softens these restrictive bands, by reducing the physical "straight-jacket" effect they have on the body, thus leading to a significant reduction in chronic pain, even at sites far away from the original scar that scar tissue has wrapped around.

Watch this informative video explaining the effects of scar tissue and and how it causes "Chronic Post Surgical Pain Syndrome".

Muscle Pain & Lymph Drainage: What’s the Connection

Written by Bianca Botha, CLT, RLD & MLDT

Have you ever felt like your muscles are sore, stiff, or heavy—even when you haven’t overworked them? You might think it’s just muscle tension or inflammation… but what if your lymphatic system is also part of the picture?

Let’s dive into how lymphatic drainage can relieve muscle pain, reduce inflammation, and help your body recover naturally.

What Causes Muscle Pain?

Muscle pain (also called myalgia) can stem from:
• Inflammation 🔥
• Toxin build-up (like lactic acid or metabolic waste) ♻️
• Poor circulation 🩸
• Tissue trauma or tension 🤕
• Chronic conditions like fibromyalgia or autoimmune disorders 🧬

When muscles are inflamed or congested, the lymphatic system is often involved—because it helps clear the waste, fluid, and immune cells from the tissues.

The Lymphatic System: Your Body’s Drainage Network

Your lymphatic system is like a silent river 🌊 flowing beneath the surface—moving toxins, waste, and excess fluid out of your body and into your detox organs.

When the lymph is sluggish or overwhelmed, it can lead to:
• Swollen, stiff muscles 💢
• Painful pressure in tissues 🧱
• Increased sensitivity to touch 🔍
• Slower recovery ⏳
• Ongoing inflammation ⚠️

That deep, achy, heavy feeling in your muscles? It may be lymphatic stagnation.

How Lymph Drainage Helps Muscle Pain

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that stimulates the lymphatic flow to:
• Reduce swelling & inflammation 🌬️
• Remove waste from sore muscles 🧹
• Boost circulation and oxygen flow 💨
• Soothe the nervous system 🧘‍♀️
• Speed up recovery from injury or stress ⚡

It’s not a deep tissue massage—MLD works on the fluid layer just under the skin, where the lymph lives!

Muscle Pain Relief Without the Pressure

One of the best parts?
Lymph drainage doesn’t hurt!

It’s ideal for people with:
• Fibromyalgia 🌸
• Chronic fatigue 🛌
• Post-surgical discomfort 🩼
• Autoimmune muscle flares ⚡

It offers gentle, effective relief—even for those sensitive to touch.

What Conditions Benefit Most?

Lymphatic drainage can help relieve muscle pain in:
• Fibromyalgia 🧠
• Post-exercise recovery 🏃‍♀️
• Chronic back & shoulder tension 🎯
• Autoimmune inflammation 🔥
• Swollen, sore limbs 🦵🦶

It’s also a great support for post-viral fatigue or lingering muscle aches after illness.

Support Your Muscles & Lymph at Home:
• Drink plenty of water 💧
• Dry brush your skin before showers 🪥
• Practice deep breathing 🫁
• Stretch or walk gently daily 🚶‍♀️
• Avoid tight clothing that blocks circulation 🚫👖

At Lymphatica, we don’t just treat the pain—we help uncover the root cause. Whether it’s inflammation, toxicity, or fluid build-up, lymphatic drainage can help your muscles feel light, loose, and pain-free again.

Because when the lymph flows… the pain goes.

Feeling very grateful today as i came across a newly referred clients post. I took a screenshot and am sharing it below.

I started reflecting on how far some of them actually travel. I have clients who drive from Eugene, Springfield, Oakridge, Yoncalla, Elkton, Roseburg — to come see me for massage. Knowing you’d travel that far when you could see someone closer means the world to me.

Also a big shout out to all of my clients for the referrals, the kind words, and the trust you place in me. It’s humbling, flattering, and never taken for granted. I don’t take your trust lightly. Thank you for choosing me, for recommending me, and for supporting my small business in ways that truly matter. I’m honored to be part of your wellness journey.💛

I have found this to be true as well. A blend, not a session of just bracing pain. I offer basic Swedish Massage which does not include Deep Tissue techniques and integrated massage which blends both Swedish with the feel good Deep Tissue techniques.

When i talk about not causing pain on the table, i mean the brace yourself type pain where it doesn't provide relief right away. Where you hold your breath, the body cringes ad braces against the work. There is a big difference between pain that immediatly responds to the treatment and turns to the feel good pain and techniques that cause bracing, hold your breath, and relief only comes when they move on to another area.

Therapists that understand and address bodywork from the Nervous System angle know you get best results blending the styles and applying Deep Tissue techniques and more pressure when the tissue is ready. Bracing pain is often because the therapist just dives in and doesn't prepare the Nervous System and body first for the Deep Tissue techniques. One can also start with Deep Tissue if beginning lighter, slow, steady and waiting for the tissue response before going deeper.

What i have often experienced in receiving DT is therapist who start off heavy handed immediatly and disregard all the automatic body cues (recoil, armoring, whincing, physically moving to avoid the contact) indicating it is a bad pain, and even ignoring my verbal request to be lighter or stop.

So when i reference the "no pain, no gain" massage style, that paragraph above is what i mean. It's not that i don't do DT work, i just prepare the tissues first so it is the feel good pain relief, not literal pain inducing. There is a difference between the two.

For those who say "give me all you got, you can't hurt me. I have a high tolerance to pain", that usually indicates nerve desensitization, nervous system dysregulation, inner trauma, etc. and going in heavy handed won't actually help to resolve problems in the long run. It can create a new pain sensation and trigger natural pain responses but it doesn't get to the root of the ongoing stress state in the body nor help it to climb down off the red alert tower and learn to regulate properly again.

I don't offer that kind of massage therapy because i am a Nervous System First therapist. My goal is to down regulate it, not keep it in the red alert state.

I have a confession: I do “Swedish” and “deep tissue” sessions the same way. I know—gasp! I see you all looking at each other with side-eyes and raised eyebrows. “Blasphemy! Off with his head!” But I’m not going to recant, so hear me out.
