Sister Opal Lee is truly a legacy in motion. As the Grandmother of Juneteenth, she continues to lead, inspire, and educate as she enters her centennial year. A tireless activist and truth-teller, her decades-long work helped make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday, ensuring Black history is acknowledged, honored, and taught.
Her legacy lives on through the Opal Lee National Juneteenth Museum and the release of her new Barbie doll—both preserving history while inspiring future generations to advance freedom, justice, and joy.
