Happy and ! This year's theme is "Shining a Light on the People and Causes that Inspire Us to Serve".

SHARE! relies on more than 4,000 volunteers each year to support a wide range of projects and initiatives. Our volunteers play a vital role in our community and we appreciate every moment they help us provide a safe place for all individuals to gather.

At SHARE!, we see that inspiration in action every single day. From assisting with support meetings and community outreach to organizing food donations and enhancing our social media presence, our volunteers are the heartbeat of our recovery community.

Whether you are helping with office administration, decorating for an upcoming event, or lending a hand with repairs at our Culver City or Downtown LA locations, your contribution creates a path for others to find housing, jobs, and a better life.

Ready to find your inspiration?
Through our Volunteer-to-Job Program, we welcome everyone—regardless of past experience—to develop new skills and build the confidence needed for employment. Your lived experience is an asset here!

The SHARE! Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) Supervisorial District 2 team had an incredible time last Friday during the Veteran Social Connection Day at in El Segundo. From free rounds of golf to great food, it was all about that unmatched camaraderie, connection, and shared stories.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to make it a memorable day! 🇺🇸

The Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) is more than just a resource hub, it’s a brotherhood and sisterhood of those who have served.

VPAN provides peer support, which means standing beside our fellow veterans, offering not just resources, but a deep connection born from lived experience. Creating a supportive community space to recognize the service and lived experiences of our veterans is at the heart of what we do.

April is , and this year’s theme is all about YOU: "Be the Source for Better Health: Improving Health Outcomes Through Our Cultures, Communities, and Connections."

Health is about more than just a doctor’s visit—it’s about where we live, learn, work, and play. This month, we’re diving deep into the Social Drivers of Health (SDOH), focusing on how access to reliable transportation, safe housing, and nutritious food can bridge the gap in health equity.

What we’re focusing on this April:

- Culture as a Strength: Using our unique cultural connections to drive better care.

- Community Power: Strengthening local networks to improve health outcomes.

- Proactive Wellness: Prioritizing health education, early detection, and managing chronic diseases.

The statistics highlight why this work is so vital. According to the CDC, Black or African American adults are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than non-Hispanic white adults, and American Indians and Alaska Natives have a life expectancy that is 5.5 years shorter than the total U.S. population.

By addressing these disparities head-on, we can reduce the burden of illness and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

🌟 SHARE! Employee Spotlight: Jessica Miller, Director of Training

See below for an excerpt from article, "A Workforce Built on Lived Experience: Scaling Peer Support Across California".

"Jessica Miller, Director of Training at Self-Help And Recovery Exchange (SHARE!), a peer-run nonprofit in Los Angeles, sees this transformation every day. “People come into the program feeling a lot of shame about their past,” she says. “But very quickly they realize: you can work, you can have a job, and you can still be somebody with lived experience. In fact, you can use that experience to help other people at the same time.”
